The DAY GUNTHER WAGNER CAME TO FETCH ME AT SCHOOL HE wore his new Wehrmacht uniform, deep bottle green, the silver buckle of his black leather belt polished bright. I wore the best outit I had, my uniform from the BDM, Hitler's youth group for girls - a welcome change from my scratchy black wool school uniform pinafore.
