There are a million characters, I remember about 10% of them, and Murderbot is in slack channels with all of them simultaneously 😭

This sort of reset my brain in that I was feeling very stuck, very in a reading slump. But this was such smooth sailing - not demanding but fun, without anything or anyone annoying me. One thing that Martha Wells seems to get really well - and which I have recently found out is apparently difficult to do, because 90% of other writers seem to be dropping the ball - but one thing she does really well is create a strong narrative voice that is funny, with a lot of humour, without it feeling juvenile. It just makes this so much easier to read.

Thank the universe that I finished this final (so far) installment hours before the show premiers because otherwise I would be sobbing. I think Murderbot is the largest fictional character I’ve read, and I owe that to the deep first person narrative, introspective and honest about its own deceit, and the drive to say ‘all humans are so stupid and I will save them still!’. So looking forward to the show and to future stories!

Not my favorite murderbot book, but it had the good banter and character development.

It's more murderbot! I feel like these are really starting to feel like when magazines used to have like chapters of books come out in the issues every month or like, when books were like serials and you had to like tune in next time to find out what happens to our weyward adventurers next! As we get deeper I feel more and more like I at least need to re-read the one before as each new one comes out to keep things fresh. I do love the new tech interactions we get, and I like when machines talk to each other, and I really feel like we are building towards something still... and I want it in my hot little hands.

Enjoyable as ever. But while these are usually pretty plot forward, here the plot and the mechanics of getting the humans saved overshadowed anything else. There was also a larger human ensemble for this, which seemed difficult to juggle when the narrative is usually very contained in murderbot's perspective. 

Another great chapter in the Murderbot Diaries, with a twist that has Murderbot suffering from 

. 🤭 The only thing I wish I had done was review the previous two books just to give myself a refresher because we dive right in and it took me about 50 pages to get a grip on where we were. But loved it and can’t wait to see where we go next.

Everyone's favorite lethal SecUnit is back.

Following the events in Network Effect, the Barish-Estranza corporation has sent rescue ships to a newly-colonized planet in peril, as well as additional SecUnits. But if there’s an ethical corporation out there, Murderbot has yet to find it, and if Barish-Estranza can’t have the planet, they’re sure as hell not leaving without something. If that something just happens to be an entire colony of humans, well, a free workforce is a decent runner-up prize.

But there’s something wrong with Murderbot; it isn’t running within normal operational parameters. ART’s crew and the humans from Preservation are doing everything they can to protect the colonists, but with Barish-Estranza’s SecUnit-heavy persuasion teams, they’re going to have to hope Murderbot figures out what’s wrong with itself, and fast.

Yeah, this plan is... not going to work.
