Have I actually found myself wanting to read HR books or other books lately? I don't know if three books really counts but very off brand for me nonetheless. I can't explain it but lately they are what I'm gravitating to and actually enjoying. Wulfric and Christine are the epitome of grumpy x sunshine, and wow did I ever ADORE their story! I have to say maybe because I'm relatively new to Regency romances and this is part of a series although it most definitely can be read standalone. I think though maybe that is initially why I struggled to find this story interesting in the beginning because I didn't have a connection with any of the characters involved and it started fairly slow. However, once that opinion did change at some point I never found it boring or dragging. If anything I would have liked more time with them together but I was so grateful for the epilogue and getting to get a window into their life together. Christine is a ball of joy and not in an unrealistic and over the top sort of way. She is smart, unabashedly herself, funny, and speaks her mind freely. It was easy to love her and want to get to know her story. Wulfric was cold and standoffish at first, but also like a good mystery you wanted to solve.

Luckily this was dual POV so we do get to know what's going on in his mind. He is really an intriguing character and has an air about him that is arrogant, but more than anything it's this quiet confidence and surety in himself that is unmistakenly deeply alluring. Getting to know both him and Christine it is easy to understand why they were drawn together, even though they took a long time to figure it out. Very few do get to know Wulf because he doesn't go out of his way to spend time with people he is actually not interested in talking to and prefers to keep his own company. Him going from being intrigued by Christine's natural magnetism to being completely besotted to the point where his life felt colorless and empty without her was UGH SO GOOD!! Especially in the latter half when he really let his guard down and let her see those sides he rarely shows anyone that was just beautiful. I also lived for their silent conversations and looks across the room, it felt like these two lived in a world of their own everywhere they went.

 It might be weird for some people to read the 6th book into a series but I think after meeting the other Bedwyn siblings I might be intrigued enough to go back to the rest of their stories because they seemed like my kind of people. Though I don't know if I will fall for their stories quite like Wulfric and Christine's because it just was the perfect mix of things I love. I also have grown a true appreciation for fast attractions and slow emotional build-ups. I still count them as a slowburn because more than 70% in before any sort of confession of feelings besides their clear attraction to each other. Really a fantastic HR I find myself more interested in this genre.
