After the I Do, God Brought Me Through

Undergoing an abusive relationship with her minister husband, Mary suffered through lies, manipulation, infidelity, drug addiction, financial insecurity, abandonment, and the inability to be a spiritual leader. Mary wears her heart on her sleeve as she reminisces of her years as an impressionable girl, falling in love with a young man from her church to a single mother raising her three children with family members and in the projects, doing everything in her strength to provide for them. Throughout it all, God kept her from having a nervous breakdown. He stopped a stroke, attempted suicide, and a major heart attack from taking her out. Her utmost desire to anyone planning to get married is to read her entire story, so they can avoid the unnecessary pain she underwent. For those already in an arduous marriage, Mary is a living testament to the fact that God delivers and protects. Although the deliverance may not come the way one envisions it, God will bring the person out to victory. Mary tells those in the same place she was to "try to do good even when you do not want to. After you have gone through the storm of a bad marriage, you will have peace. Never cease to love, to pray, fast, and have faith, knowing God cares about you and will never leave your side."
