It is 4.30 p.m. and pitch-black but we love each other. / This is enough to keep me inside the poem, during / days of lost epiphanies and great pain. Scarry notes / that pain isn't of' or 'for' anything, it is itself alone. / There is no language for it, so the birds of metaphor / won't rest here, won't give me a swan or a sign that / things will be better. It is dark outside. We remain. (IX)

highly recommend her “a hurry of english” too if you can find it
