Re-read. I had a different reaction this time -- I remain Alexander/Hephastion trash, but Bagoas' totally unquestioned Persian chauvinism was less appealing to me, and I can 100% see why the Macedonian troops were pissed.

alexander and hephaistion can have their achilles and patroklos, but there can never be anything like alexander and bagoas
