A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Mary Wine's latest book is titled "The Highlander's Captive", which is part of the Highland Rogues series. It involves a highlander, a stolen bride, and strife between clans. Due to having royal blood, poor widowed Annis has to deal with men from various clans trying to steal her as a bride for their own selfish purposes. Fortunately, she is not someone who would lie still and she takes matters into her own hands. Rolfe is not your typical alpha male highlander. While he is a strong and skilled warrior, he is very caring and thoughtful. He was unlike the others as he treated her with respect. The journey Annis and Rolfe take together is long and full of struggles - dealing with rival clans and family conflict, there was never a dull moment. While this is part of a series, it could be read as a standalone. It is fast-paced, has likeable characters, and is well written. A great read for anyone who likes Scottish historical romance.
