In the first installment, we have a story that begins with two opposites from each other. We have a heroine who is innocent and a hero who is more than experienced and likes to be in control. He is drawn to Evangeline in ways that he can’t quite explain. We have a couple that join forces as their attraction and connection to each other is one that neither of them can resist. But what we discover are characters that can’t resist the temptation they find in each other’s arms. I will be honest in this book, I picked it up on a whim, as I have been wanting to work through Maya Bank’s backlist, and I absolutely adored it so much. I just couldn’t resist and this story just sucked me right in. there is something that is so appealing how this type of set up of a romance especially in a more contemporary romance setting. I love a anti hero, and even though we don’t discover what Drake is really all about, we just know it’s not completely lawful. But I was so intrigued by his complicated character and seeing that genuine love that Evangeline has for him. And I will warn you that this book does contain a cliffhanger, which actually shocked me because I don’t think I have ever read a cliffhanger from this author so make sure you have their conclusion in book two ready to pick up there. But I truly loved the first part of their story and seeing them building something real together.

Just WOW! Maya Banks has always know how to write incredible erotica romance books and she has done it again with Mastered. Mastered is a hot erotica romance that everyone will love it from the started. The chemistry between the character is hot and intense that it will make you swoon. Mastered starts off with brand new characters that the reader will enjoy the new personality and looks especially the Alpha men. Mastered starts off with Evangeline unexpectedly meeting the hot yet tough, Drake. Their meeting may be unexpected but their chemistry is hot and passionate that it makes totally sense for them to go forward. Evangeline is a gorgeous and sweet women that any man will be lucky to have her but some men are just cruel that they do no recognize the jewel Evangeline is. However, Drake definitely knows Evangeline is a keeper that he is determined to keep her no matter what. Their relationship may be unexpected but it totally worthy it since they are made for each other. They both balance their self since they are totally opposite with Evangeline sweet and caring personality to Drake tough and harsh personality. Opposite does attract that it makes sense for Drake and Evangeline to be together but something will keep them apart that it will leave a major chiff-hanger. The chiff-hanger will keep the reader on their toe since they want to know what is going to happen to Drake and Evangeline. Mastered is a amazing erotica romance story that it will make you want to continue re-read Mastered. Five Stars!

This is not my favorite book by Maya Banks. It was good and the ending/ cliffhanger made me want to read the next book but I did struggle with this one and some aspect of the story were not believable. It is well written in most part and I will be reading the next book in the series because I do usually love Maya Banks's books and I do want to know what will happen next.

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life 3.5 STARS Mastered is the first book in Maya Banks’ The Enforcers series, and it tells the story of innocent and naive Evangeline being thrust into an erotic world that is completely out of her comfort zone. Drake Donovan is the lion to her lamb, and while Mastered should have been a cliché, I actually enjoyed it for the most part. It’s an exciting start to a new series that has a great potential to become even better. Evangeline lost her virginity to a guy who only viewed her as a challenge, so her friends want her to get back at him by going to an exclusive club and showing him what he’s missing out on. Evangeline is shy and doesn’t have much confidence in herself, and even though she’s not a virgin anymore, she’s innocent in a lot of ways. But when she walks into Impulse, she has no idea that her entire life is going to change and that she’s going to be claimed by a rich, powerful man. Drake Donovan is alpha to the max – he needs control in all things, and the one thing he can’t control is his need for Evangeline. Her innocence draws him, even when he knows he doesn’t deserve her, but he’s going to claim and dominate her anyway because what he wants, he gets. What I liked most about Mastered was how Drake opens up Evangeline’s eyes toward herself and helps her develop her self-confidence and sexuality. Evangeline’s insecurity annoyed me in the beginning of the book, because she keeps repeating over and over how she never belongs anywhere, but with Drake’s help, the way she views herself starts to change and she becomes more endearing than anything to me by the end of the book. What was also sweet was the friendships that grew between Evangeline and Drake’s best friends. I adored the way all these hardened, alpha males became so smitten with her! Mastered is book 1 of 2 in Drake and Evangeline’s story. I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book, because I did not expect that cliffhanger ending in Mastered! If you’re a fan of steamy, kinky books with a dominating alpha billionaire and a heroine who is his complete opposite, then I’d recommend this book.
