Mad about Meatloaf (Weenie Featuring Frank and Beans Book #1)

I think that this book was such a cute book I loved the illustrations in them and I think this book is a great way to introduce kids into reading comic books. One thing that I didn’t care for was that the book didn’t actually have an ending where weenie apologized to bob for eating his meatloaf.

We are introduced to Weenie, a dachshund, and his friends, Frank the cat and Beans, a guinea pig.  Frank and Beans are like the angel and devil on Weenie's shoulders as he tries to decide whether to climb up on the counter and steal his owner, Ben's meatloaf.  Frank succeeds in enticing Weenie, but when the meatloaf is gone, Weenie feels remorse and must find a way to make it up to Ben.

Weenie is a cute dog, but might have been drawn a little cuter for the young audience.  Frank fills the stereotype of the lazy, sarcastic cat, a la Garfield.  The book is divided into chapters starting with an introduction of the characters, making the story easier to read.  Also, there is a nice life lesson at the end of the book, but it might have been delivered with a little more of a punch.  Overall, Weenie Featuring Frank and Beans: Mad About Meatloaf is a delightful story about a dog and his friends.
