Review:
Living in a small town and working for the local florist means she is to help plan and organise events around town. 
Andrew Hart is the son of a celebrity chef who has to come to this small town to help the catering company. Which means Andrew is forced to attend all the same events as Sophie.

I like how this is told over a span of a year, Sophie takes us on a journey as she struggles through her family drama, her dreams of leaving her small town for New York and as she comes to terms that she just may have feelings for the chef's son.
A very cute story, I really enjoyed this one.

I really enjoyed this read. I thought the structure from this book was so unique and really enjoyed how it took place over the course of a year but on only certain events. I really liked how this book not only focused on the lead girl and her boy but also focused heavily on self discovery and also really focused on friendship. I would def. cat. this book as love to hate and it really captured me. I think also enjoyed how this book focused on smaller time and the drama that comes from that. The structure in this book was the highlight for me, and I really liked how this book focused on romance and friendship!

Meh. I’m not a huge fan of enemies to lovers and this one just really didn’t do it for me. I loved the concept of this story taking place over the course of a year where the main characters only really see each other at “special events” because they work for companies that mainly deal with that (flowers and catering), but I don’t think that it was done completely well. Time felt as though it stood still between events, which was a little jarring to have thrown in details from our “time in between.” The main characters’ angst toward each other was insufferable at times. And to be honest, all the characters seemed to suffer from some development issues. They all felt a little abrupt and annoying at times. By the end, the chemistry between the mcs was decent, but not enough to pull it out of a less than average rating. 
The author brings up a really interesting and important topic, which was following your dreams (out of your hometown) vs. staying where you know. I wish that the author had spent more time developing this conversation and actually making it part of the storyline rather than having it build up to a big piece, only to be thrown away towards the end. I’m not quite explaining that correctly but basically I was let down by the direction that conversation went, and I had been hoping for more.
I’m disappointed by this one, but I’m hopeful for better stories down the road.

Kasie West is an instant buy for me since I adore stories of meet-cutes and relatable characters. I'm sad to say this was just not for me. The story fell flat and felt like there was no real plot except for the different events. I've never had a story that just jumped from event to event with no in between and it took me a while to get into it. I felt like nothing actually happened during the in-between time which was just weird. There would be certain conflicts at the events that then were put on pause until the next event. The characters would just interact during these events I guess. The events also began to felt a tad repetitive by the end with the same itinerary for each.

One day, I will love a Kasie West book. ONE. DAY. Today is, apparently, not that day. Maybe This Time was underwhelming for my personal preference in terms of plotlines and characters, yet I still find myself enjoying the way that West tells a story. Even if that story isn't my cup of tea. It's complicated, I know. My experience with her work has been hit or miss. As for this one, I had fun with it on the surface level but it did very little to endear itself enough for it to be memorable in my eyes. 

Which isn't a dig at the novel or Kasie West, by any means. It's merely about what makes books stick out to me on a personal level. Everything about Maybe This Time had the potential to be a favourite, but just... wasn't. That isn't to say that this was a bad book, per se, or that people won't love it! It just wasn't for me. 

And I'm really sad about that because so much of it stood out to me when I read its premise. It had so much potential for me! The slow-building (and I do mean SLOW) romance between "enemies" (one of my favourite tropes in love stories) and a character from small towns, with big dreams? I was like, yes, sign me up! 

I myself was a girl from a (fairly) small town, with big dreams. So, any dreamer is a friend of mine. Aim for the stars, you know? There's a whole world out there, waiting to be explored, and I love it when people dream big. Needless to say, these are the types of characters that connect with me almost instantaneously and in many ways, Sophie was definitely one of those characters that felt easy to connect with. 

The bad news is that she was the only character I could connect with. Not only this, I wasn't all that keen on the romance in this one. I felt like Maybe This Time could have benefit from a bit more in terms of length. It felt very abrupt at times and the way that the romance develops left a lot to be desired. And, at the end of the day, it felt there could have been much more to it.
