I received this Audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was everything I never knew I needed. I’m amazed that this is this author‘s debut novel. I forget, a lot of the time, that I need to throw in books like these into my rotation. It’s so good to read something that’s real, raw, emotional and something that I can easily relate to. Harper and Dan make such a great couple, I'm not the biggest fan of the ‘insta love’ trope, but for this story in particular it worked out and didn’t bother me. It felt a little jumpy here and there and though Dan and Harper are in their mid/late 20s, which pains me to say since I am in my late 20s 😭, they seem quite immature at times. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book. I had the absolute pleasure of listening to this book on audio and it made the experience that much better. To my knowledge, and at the time of writing this review, I don’t believe I have listened to audio narrated by these two voice actors before. Now I could be completely wrong, but I don’t believe I have. I thought they did a great job with these characters! Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read more books by the author!

I felt this one was a super relatable read, especially for anyone who has struggled with anxiety!! such good representation of mental health in this one 🫶🏼

things i loved:

Ugh this book,10/10, I never wanted it to end! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

I avoided this book because it about dentist and I think it’s weird to be a dentist but it’s a part of a series o started so I thought I would give in and it was actually really good! She falls down the stairs onto the dude which is kinda iconic of her.

neva eva eva did i think i would read a DENTISTRY romance but oh boy here i am… this was goood i can’t even lie like. it definitely was a tad bit goofy at times and mega unserious but i throughly enjoyed myself! loving the stupid cheesy rom coms with the emotionally unavailable fmcs! dan u are too good for this world i need you to know that my pookie pie. (would like to note that i DID pick up on the subtle philly mentions here and there!!)

This book was AMAZING and i was pleasantly surprised by how much i enjoyed it. If you love The Love Hypothesis, i recommend this book to you.

It’s strangers turned friends turned lovers with supportive friends and no miscommunication….. um yes please.

Harper and Dan are perfect for each other and it was so much fun watching them fall in love with each other. Also let’s appreciate the amazing friends Harper has and their understanding instead of turning things into a petty argument.

Harpers relationship with anxiety and grief is presented a lot in this book, so warnings for that. Watching her finally accept her mother’s death was heartbreaking, but also amazing that we got to see her grow from it too.

Loved this book and can’t wait to read more form the author!

Pg 194-197 made me wish I had friends like that.

This book was beautiful. It was heartbreaking and felt so true. I felt seen in this book. 

I loved the focus on mental illness. I felt like Harper and I had so much in common when it came to our mental illnesses. This book destroyed me in such a perfect way. I laughed. I cried. I squealed. I huffed. I rolled my eyes. I felt like I was reading bits and pieces of me within the pages and I loved every minute. 

I did listen to this via audiobook thanks to NetGalley and I really did like the dual POV narrative. Both narrators were great and definitely enjoyable to listen to.

This book is so cute and yet so raw. The depiction of Harpers anxiety was done so well and Dan felt like exactly the right person so be there with her. I just love everything about this book.

I wanted to love this book so much. It seemed like a cute romance that also dealt with some heavier topics. However, this book fell just short of my expectations. Don’t get me wrong there was plenty of cute moments and discussion of anxiety. It just didn’t land the way I expected.

Let’s talk about Harper. From the beginning, it was insta love for me. Meaning I liked her character a lot. She had depth, was funny, and was enjoyable to read about. However, the more I listened the more she became unbearable. She started to make decisions that bugged me and would repeat the same things over and over again. I understand that she had major anxiety, and these are some things you would do if you had anxiety. However, the way they were written was annoying. In the end, she had the chance to redeem herself but by that point, I was too annoyed.

Now Dan. I love Dan, and wish the story was mostly about him. He is in dental school against his will. Wading through familial guilt and loathing. Yet he keeps moving forward, always making sure those in his life are cared for. He was the perfect gentleman to Harper. However, Harper walked all over him. He honestly deserved better. 

The story. It was cute if you ignore the annoying Harper moments. There were ups and downs, cute dates, funny friends, real situations. I have one major qualm with the story though. Harper got majorly drunk one day, and Dan was pretty sober. Harper made a complete full of herself, taking off her dress and trying to seduce Dan. Being the gentleman that he is, he put her shirt back on her and tucked her into bed. That whole moment just felt gross, and unneeded. Made Harper feel like a 16-year-old girl, not 26. So in short, I guess I didn’t like the story that much.

Finally, the audiobook portion. There were two narrators for this story because it was told from dual perspectives. I loved Emily Lawrence! She did such a good job with her pacing, and tone. Vikas Adams did great while narrating Dan's thoughts or conversations with men. However, as soon as he had to voice a female, the voice got all breathy and cringy to hear. It made all the women sound young and like a seductress, even in serious moments. Besides that, I liked the audiobook portion.
