Infantil em um bom sentido mas não consegui acabar, não me pegou a leitura e prefiro os filmes pela primeira vez... A narrativa é 100% de um diário (deveria ter esperado por essa) e claramente uma menina de 13/14 escrevendo então não consegui por muito tempo, aproveitar o livro. Porém sinto que se eu fosse menor, tivesse lido na mesma época de Seleção, Diário de um banana etc, teria amado!

well im liking the series so far lol i mean is the first book nd all lol bt anyways so this book is abt a girl named Mia dat goes to high school u kno fishy lol and Has parents that are divorced.. her father lives in Europe. and her mother getting it on wit mias algebra teacher lol...so when her grandma comes visit them , she tells her that shes the heir to a country –a real princess! Later after she discovers she is a princess her Grandma tries to teach her ‘princess’ etiquette lol

The format of the writing was a little bit hard to get in but I pushed through because I really enjoyed both movies. Many story lines are left out of the movie so if you watched the movie and you want to read this book then go ahead.

This was my first audiobook and I may just be overlooking things when rating this book simply because Anne Hathaway read it but I liked it a lot. I love The Princess Diaries movies as they are now but I think I would be ok if this was how the movies played out. Although Mia's father being alive in this threw me off in the beginning, since the whole reason Mia had to take over the throne was because her father died, they made it work. I feel like I enjoyed this better although I don’t think I would want to see Julie Andrews play this version of the grandmother because I like how she plays the one in the movies. The grandmothers description and attitude also threw me off because I was used to the 

 sweet, loving grandmother from the movies. Overall I did enjoy the book and I am excited to listen to the next two!

This book was so fun and made me feel like a kid again! I enjoyed many of the characters and all the realistic flaws they had. Mia is an especially wonderful character who is still learning who she is all while juggling the craziness of high school and learning she is a princess. One of my main issues with the book, though, was Lilly (Mia’s best friend). She was controlling and self centered, and did not realize this until the very end of the story. Some of the topics, as well, would not be okay to publish today. Despite these issues, this story was a good representation of the whirlwind that is high school and learning to grow as an individual.

           very cute, 14-year-old me would have found this very relatable. Since I am 24, I can't really relate now but it was fun, it brought me back to my teenage years, and to the film that I really liked.

However, I understand Mia falling for a beautiful but completely dull boy ahaha that happened to me too not to long ago and it made me laugh seeing how Josh was as boring as a sock.
Mia's dad is a complete jerk! I really liked Michael, and obviously Mia. I am not sure I will continue the series, but this book surely was nice

Interesting that I didn't realize the book was set in New York. 
The audiobook is read by Anne Hathaway, very enjoyable. 

I was highly saddened by all the lost New York things... Grand Union, not having enough cash for a cab, no cell phones, etc etc

Jeg hadde lyst til å lese denne boka, fordi jeg elsker filmene som er basert på den. Fra tidligere erfaringer med bok-film-adapsjoner så skjønte jeg at det kom til å være store forskjeller -- og det var det også. De to største forskjellene er kanskje at i boka er faren til Mia levende og bestemoren er et monster, mens i filmen er det omvendt.
 Jeg ble ihvertfall veldig glad i boka mens jeg leste den. Den er skrevet i dagbokform (som tittelen røper) og er morsom og lettlest. I tillegg syntes jeg det var artig å kjenne seg igjen i hovedpersonen (jeg heter også Mia, skriver dagbok og har kongelige forfedre).
 
Har ikke lest så mye chicklit tidligere, men jeg har oppdaget at jeg liker sjangeren ganske godt. Jeg kommer ihvertfall til å lese hele denne serien (jeg er nesten ferdig med andreboka nå og har nr. tre og fire i bokhylla)!

This was so different from the movie and I loved it SO SO MUCH!

Mia's dad is amazeballs and I love that her Gran is a witch. Enjoyed the diary format and just loved the story over-all.

Well, the book wasn't perfect, but it was fun to read anyway. I really love the movie, and even though the book is kinda different, it was still entertaning. I will be continuing with the series.

Yeah I mean the story was just ok but the constant use of associating random things with being crackhead and the use of the r slur and a yikes nazi joke and a few other weird things I'm uh bumping it down a star

I had heard good things about this series, but had fairly low expectations going into it. When I saw that Anne Hathaway narrated the audiobook available on Scribd, I knew I needed to listen to it right away. She did a fantastic job as a narrator! This story is hilarious and so cute, it definitely filled my need for a cutesy contemporary read! I was aboard the train of people who had seen the Disney movie with Anne Hathaway in it, but had never read the book. In fact, until about a year ago, I didn't even know it was based on a book series.

The plot was fantastic. The story flowed well. It was a wise choice to narrate the story through Mia's diary entries. Mia's voice and personality show through in her entries perfectly. On top of that, you don't lose anything from the other characters in this format. Meg Cabot did a wonderful job of showing you who the other characters are and what they're like through Mia's eyes.

This book doesn't cover as much time as I would have thought. This book is only about the first third, maybe half of the movie. However, that doesn't mean that nothing happens in this book. Plenty of things happen, and of course there's a little more flesh to the events that happened in the movie. I didn't want to stop listening to this book, so I imagine it's just as difficult to put down in physical form! Mia has a great voice, she is humorous, insightful, and very well written; which makes you want to keep going through the story.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this if you like young adult contemporaries. I would also recommend it if you liked the movie. A little disclaimer and warning however, it is very different from the movie. Mia is a lot younger, and there are some other aspects that are different.

After rewatching Disney's film adaptation of Meg Cabot's The Princess Diaries a few weeks ago, I had this strong urge to give the books a try. And I'm glad I did. I had always wanted to read the books that inspired the movies, but just had never gotten around to it. 


Meg Cabot takes us into the world of fourteen year old, high school freshman Mia Thermopolis. Written as Mia's diary entries, the reader really gets to know Mia, and get into her mind; a mind that is full of amusing thoughts. I found myself laughing a lot while reading this book; partly because some of the things going on was ridculous, but largely due to Mia's personality. She tended to freak out about things quite a lot. Which, is understandable when you think about it. I mean, how would you react if you had just found out you were the heir to the throne of a small European country?


Mia doesn't believe she is princess material. She doesn't believe she has the beauty or the brains to pull off the job. Unfortunately, no one seems to care what she wants, which is to live out a normal (as normal as possible for her) life. Her Grandmere, however, won't take no for an answer. Since her father became sterile after heavy doses of chemotherapy to get rid of his testicular cancer, Mia is the only heir to the throne. 


I really love the characters of the story. Mia is just so entertaining, though a bit extreme sometimes. I think she tends to overreact at times, but once again, she is going through a difficult time in her life. Not only did she find out she was heir to Genovia, but her mother is also dating her Algebra teacher (a class she is failing miserably in), and her Grandmere is rather scary. Grandmere is nothing like Julie Andrew's character in the movies. It took me awhile to adjust to the major differences. Of course, I expected differences, but I was still shocked, but also grateful the amazingly talented Julie Andrews did not have to portray the horrid woman in the book. In the book, Grandmere shaves her eyebrows and paints them on, and also has eyeliner tatooed to her eye-lids. Does that sound freaky or what?


I loved the diary entries and how Mia would write down notes in her diary. Most of them were math formulas. It was actually pretty funny: one of the formulas she wrote down was something I was currently learning in my College Algebra class, so when I read it, I was like, "That's so cool! Now I don't have to study!"


Overall, this book was a light, fun read. Definitely what I needed, what with college being so stressful; it was nice to sit back and enjoy this book. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the movies, but would tell them to be sure to seperate the books from the movies because they are completely different.
