It was fun
To be honest. I’m a bit upset cause I thought I knew what was going to happen but NOOOOO the DCOM is completely different! Also I’m so mad that her name was actually different because as soon as I started listening to this I was like wait I thought her name was Ally and then I convinced myself I was crazy but they did actually change it. And I was waiting for the teacher to be the bad guy..man I just...idk my thoughts 😂
4.25 Stars Let me first say that my love for the Disney movie is what made me want to read the book. Also, I knew the book was different and I was totally okay with that. If you've read any of my reviews about adaptations before, you'll know I typically view each thing on its own rather than hating one for being so unlike the other. I like how this was a little darker than I had expected. By that I mean there's some SERIOUS family drama and I quite like what it brought to the story. The characters were fine, though I felt some of the secondary characters could have been a little more developed. Also, this book is a true product of its time and there's basically zero diversity other than a group of people who were clearly put in because Cabot wanted her character to denounce racists. Which isn't bad, but would be considered not "good enough" for today's standards. I liked the plot, everything came together nicely by the end and it was honestly just a super fun journey. I really enjoyed this book, I'm glad I read it! Between this and The Princess Diaries I definitely know I want to be reading more of Cabot's backlog in the future!
Primeiramente queria dizer que se você procura um livro com plot super incrível esse não e o seu livro. Eu já considero esse um dos meus guilt plesures do ano porque na honestidade esse livro não é bom e sim no máximo divertidinho, para quem como eu assistiu o filme deve se atentar a um fato que eu não sabia que é de que os dois tem historias completamente diferentes com somente alguns pontos em igual como o nome de alguns personagens e suas personalidades. Encerrando esse review se for ler já vá com a cabeça que esse e um livro bem infantil e bem carinha de filme da disney (mas eu devo dizer que o casal principal do livro e bem adorável!)

Hm. Very predictable. Clearly the author's target audience are 13 year old love deprived girls that fantasise about being 'special', 'heroic' and valiantly self sacrificial.
