I am a fan of lots of chick lit - but this book and the Lizzie Nichols character - mostly had me annoyed. How could a girl from an academic family go through four years of college and be so clueless. I really had a hard time buying that she didn't know about writing a thesis. I can see being clueless about guys or other things - as she was - but not that. And the thesis bits before each chapter were just too silly. Lizzie did grow on my after awhile, once she tried to redeem herself, but I think she was mostly just a dumbed down version of Rebecca Bloomwood from Shopaholic. Her love interest even has the same name!

This was technically a re-read for me and I'm so happy that I picked it back up because even after all these years I still enjoyed it. I do think a lot of my positive thoughts on this one are linked to the overwhelming nostalgia I felt reading this. Back in the day, way before my days on this site, when I picked this up it was my first time reading the 'chick-lit' genre and it's always been a book I've thought back on with a lot happy memories. Honestly, if I picked up this book today for the first time I probably wouldn't have liked it as much because it is pretty cringe at points especially the first 20% having to watch Lizzie struggle with how shitty her long distance boyfriend is and just having to watch a perfectly decent female character suffer through that waste of space. Lizzie was also pretty spineless at times, but, once again, I knew that she was going to grow a back bone because I've already ridden this rollercoaster. I can't wait to pick up the next book again!

What do you get when you mix a Diet Coke obsession, the inability to keep a secret, and the need to finish a thesis? You get the Queen of Babble! This book is a great beach read, but bring your sunscreen because once you start reading you won't want to stop!

Silly but good for a fast read.
