Yall this book for sure got me out of my slump after wicked. I didn’t want to put it down at all. The ending was chaos and kept me on a swivel. But genuinely it was so good. Well done mystery book from Megan

This book was pretty good, but there wasn’t anything special about it. I liked the suspense and the mystery, though it was slow at times. Will I forget about this book as time goes on? Probably, but I did enjoy it as I read and I will definitely be looking into other books by this author.

My first book of 2023 and my first time reading Megan Miranda!
This was a fun, fast paced mystery centred in a small cozy community.
The atmosphere & tension in the first half of the book was definitely my favourite thing about this story. I feel like there were some plot points and loose ends by the end that just didn't quite make sense, I felt like I had missed something?

All the same, I had fun and the twist at the end of this book isn't something I have read before which is always great! 
Definitely interested in picking something else up by the author in the future!

           I wanted this book to have a villain so badly! I mean there technically was a plot twist, being that the Truett’s death was accidental. BUT I wanted the actual killer to be an unexpected character. However, I was very intrigued by the characters in the book. Their actions kept me engaged and on edge. There were some things that confused me like why was Ruby so secretive. She pretended that the flowers Tate gave Harper were given by her which I thought was just pretty random. I just don’t see why Ruby would do that, I don’t think she was jealous of Tate and Harper but I guess that the author was just trying to portray that Ruby might’ve been a bad person but that doesn’t mean she was the killer. Overall, it was a decent read that was full of complex characters that pushed the story forward.

This was a slow-burn, character-driven story, so it worked well for me. One of my favorite Megan Miranda thrillers.

This was definitely a decent book. It took quite a while for it to take off. The first 60% was pretty dry, characters are very superficial, and sometimes it was hard to follow the details of the plot. The ending was very anti climactic, but still kept you guessing. This book was filled with a ton of super creepy/nosey neighbors that really make you cringe. And appreciate your privacy.

I had honestly expected more out of this book after it was so hyped up online. There are two big plot twists (I won’t give any spoilers) but I found that only the first twist really surprised me and I had figured out the mystery about 3/4 of the way through. Still a good read and would recommend, just not as good as I was hoping and expecting.

Such a Quiet Place instantly jumped high up on the list with my other favorites by Megan Miranda! The writing and the reveals and the action were at their best! 

This book introduces to us to the neighborhood of Hollow’s Edge that is reeling after the murder of a couple, and the subsequent murder conviction of another resident, Ruby. It has been over a year and the neighbors are just trying to return to normal. Ruby’s best friend Harper gets two shocks-not only is Ruby’s conviction overturned, but Ruby also comes back to the neighborhood and moves in with Harper. Suddenly all the neighbors who happily provided evidence against Ruby must confront the possibility that whether  or not she is innocent, they are going to have to face it.

Some books just feel like summer. A lot of my recent reads have focused on friendship, with all its layers and complexities. From the early chapters of this book, I was so drawn in. The tension between Harper and Ruby with their shared history and slights is so lifelike. You feel the backstory of this complicated relationship in every exchange. 

Such a Quiet Place makes me think of two things- “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” and that childhood saying, when you point a finger to blame, be mindful of the other four pointing back at you. The neighbors are trapped in a cycle of paranoia that feels very classic but still relevant to how we are all armchair detectives who consume media and make ill-informed decisions based on perceptions.  Their neighborhood could be any neighborhood, basically.

 I was genuinely surprised by the end reveal, which is all I will say.  This novel really feels like a back to form for one of my faves!

It's October. I've had a tough week. What to do? Find a book from a booktuber that sounds promising and exciting and just practice a little bit of escapism for a moment!

This was a really effective thriller or mystery or however it is characterised. I suspected a lot of things, but was happily only partly right. The atmosphere was palpable - I felt quite suffocated by the surveilled suburban setting, and that was certainly central to the effectiveness of the book. If the atmosphere was less claustrophobic, the central questions would have been less compelling. But the always-present knowledge of being watched was crucial, and definitely a case of 'show don't tell' (but also occassionally tell). 

I recommend it. Some people found the first half a bit slow, but it definitely picks up after an... incident. And if you love finding the title of the book in the text, even better.

drama, nosy neighbors, a mysterious death, & the woman accused recently released from jail? sign me up! 

what I liked were all the ways people were inner connected. I felt like I knew where we were headed but then another person would pop up and change the course. the reveals were fun & the suspicious death wasn’t what I thought it was gonna be. but it was smart. the red herrings were soooo good! 

what makes this a 3 (3 1/2 ish) book is there are ALOT of people. I kept getting confused as to who was who. especially Margo & Tate they were basically interchangeable to me. there was a plot line with the anonymous letters that left me unsatisfied & thinking “you did this for what?” 

overall, a solid middle of the road book but the drama was at an all time high, which I love!

Between a 2.5 to 3 stars. Not too sure yet. Honestly I was so bored after a while and it didn’t really get intriguing enough until it was at 75%. The ending was good though, all for it. The ending was the only thing that saved this book.
