We're talking about living in a mansion, intimate double dates, and pretending we were head over heels in love . . . and engaged. Can you imagine?

The absolute audacity.

But people do crazy things when they’re desperate. And I reeked of desperation. So, I struck up a deal.

My one big mistake, though . . . big . . . HUGE? I accidentally fell for the incomparable Huxley Cane.

He pays her student debt, provides her with a place to live, and promises to lend a hand when she looks for a job.  All she has to do is help him land a contract by playing this role, but as their relationship blossoms, professional and personal lines become blurred.

A Not So Meet Cute features two characters who are so mean to each other that it is difficult to like them, but when they provide reasons for their bad behavior, they are difficult to dislike.  The crisp banter between the two protagonists makes them even more fun even though they continue to lie to those around them.  Miscommunication does play a part in this novel, but it is easy to see it coming from the very beginning of the book.  Overall, A Not So Meet Cute is a fun, easy read with a few laugh out loud moments, making this an enjoyable first book in this new series.

This book is amazing! I love the grumpiness of both characters. The way they start their little deal and then end up falling for each other is cute. Could definitely use more spice for my taste but it’s still a good book. 

I do wish Lottie let her guard down a little earlier because she was kinda mean to Huxley. I also hated the fake pregnancy thing, the book could have gone with it that.

Oh my goodness this book was so fun. This is a first for me by Meghan Quinn and won’t be the last. So first off her writing reminds me of Annika Martin and a bit like Max Monroe as well and in the same vein the humor in the writing definitely comes through without being overly contrived. Yes, ridiculous situations arise especially with the fake dating premise they gotta be tested somehow but the scenes are written so descriptively you can’t help but to buy in and laugh along. 

This story is not without its serious character development though. It took me a minute to really get Huxley but he’s actually one of my favorite hot and cold MMCs with how into Lottie he eventually got (and admitted to). It’s fun to have a little indulgent millionaire/billionaire romance hero time. And how they initially clashed wasn’t bicker-y although it was frustrating, it’s more like a compelling frustrating rather than annoying. I was rooting for them the whole time. I wouldn’t take it so far as to say enemies to romance but more like miscommunication.

What caught me off guard (in a good way) was how the tension ramped up and the steamy scenes had my jaw on the floor. Huxley really went from 0 to 100 like who gave him the right! That was insane! So happy this is open door. 

Thank you to Bloom books for this ARC for the re-release. I would like it to be known that the art is interspersed in the kindle version as well and it was so fun. I kept reading a scene hoping it would be depicted and loving when it was one of the favored ones. Not sure if the art was in the original version but if not it makes this updated release absolutely worth it (also cause I love the new cover as well)! Of course, for the story.

A not so meet cute was definitely one of the most cutest books I’ve ever read. Both Lottie and Huxley were just awesome MCs that reading about them never bored me.
I took a lot of time reading this book but still it stood out for me. The smut and the humour were just AHHHH. 
Especially the smut. 
This book has me wishing that I end up running into some hot billionaire who wants a fake fiancé😩😩
All the conversations between the three brothers were just so fun to read, them teasing Huxley about Lottie and him basically denying everything knowing it’s true 🤭
I may have highlighted 90% of the last chapter before epilogue. Because it was the cutest thing ever.

I’m not the biggest fan of billionaire romances but Meghan Quinn usually surprises me. I would say out of the billionaire romance/fake fiancé romance books I’ve read, this would be one of my favorites.

There was some fun witty dialogue/internal monologue and I liked the overall story, but the switch from enemies to in love was too fast for me, I was not convinced. And I kinda hated Huxley a wee bit.

           Okay, thoughts in bullets. 

• That prologue was laughable. Like I actually thought it was going to be a dream/nightmare. But nope. Apparently, it was actually happening. And seriously, LAUGHABLE SHIT. 
• Where was the editor of this??? Was there even one????
• God, more laughable bullshit hahahaha
• Read more like a telenovela and I don’t know how I feel about that. 
• That insta-engagement was something. Insta-love I could deal with but insta-proposal?? Well, I’ll be damned. 
• Way to stick it to Angela but I wanted more of that. 
• The possessiveness is insane. Thank fuck I’m a lesbian cause if I was straight and a man dared to talk to me like I’m his possession???? Oh we’re gonna have problems. 
• The steam and the spiciness is 👌🏽👌🏽, I’ll give it that. 

Anyway, overall a 2.75 (which I graciously rounded up to 3). Seriously though, did I read a bad Wattpad fan fiction or something????? Damn. Also, this book is physically heavy and my wrists and I did not appreciate that, not one bit.

Edit: Okay, I rethought that rating and pulled it down to a 2. Yup. That feels better.

It was a really cute story! I loved Lottie and Huxley’s dynamic, and the other characters were also well developed! 😍😍

I wasn’t loving this at the start,  I kinda found the two main characters annoying and didn’t like how they acted, then I got more into it and I enjoyed the steamy scenes quite a bit and I thought the book was getting its redemption arc but alas. The third act fall out ruined this book for it, I thought it was so overly dramatic and in the end I didn’t really enjoy this book.

oh my goodness 6/5 one of the best romance books i’ve read so far. i am going to have such a hangover from this one. i just finished literally one second ago and am rushing to put all my thoughts down. so frigin good, my favorite trope will always be fake dating so that on top of the connection between lottie and huxley was incredible. also the spice🔥 only thing i wished was different was the ending, i felt it was a little rushed and i wished we got a longer ending with more things played out and explained, especially the reunion scene which i was waiting for all book… regardless so good and definitely reccomened

I wasn’t expecting this to be so good?? I love a good fake dating & enemies to lovers trope and this hit all the marks. ngl I couldn’t get over the main characters names lmao, huxley & lottie?? but their bickering was everything and I loved how their relationship ended up flowing from fake to real. huxley was a billionaire who had a heart of gold but seldom showed it except to lottie. the angst hit the way it should but I will say, I was frustrated with lottie with her stubbornness when huxley was trying to apologize. the smut in this was also FIRE. and not to mention, their stab at angela was 🫶🏽 perfect. exactly how it should end. can’t wait to read JP & kelsey’s story!

this book had the most unbearable mmc. i will be reading the next one because i like the idea of JP and Kelsey but this book was so unenjoyable.

I really wanted to enjoy this as it has all of the foundations which would typically make a great book but it just fell…flat. Both of the main character are so incredibly immature I would’ve thought they were in their teens. The f main character has the personality of a 14-16 year old and the m main character is just 1 dimensional. The side characters had more personality and felt more real to me! Nothing really happened in the book and while the plot was a good idea the execution was diabolical. Definitely not for me but perhaps I’m just not the target demographic (I’m a 23 year old).
