Stella and Romeo are in Hawaii for the destination wedding of friends, Arlo and Greer.  Stella is still oblivious to the fact that Romeo has been carrying a torch for her for years.  When Stella runs into her estranged father who she discovers is engaged to her nemesis from high school, she decides to even the score by saying that Romeo is her fiance.  Convincing him to participate in the charade is easier than she expects, but Romeo decides that this might be an opportunity to settle the differences that have kept them apart and maybe begin a real relationship.

I have very mixed feelings about Earn Your Extra Credit.  When Stella and Romeo are together, the tone of the story is fun and flirty with well written sensual scenes.  However, when the two protagonists are apart, characters act irrationally, saying and doing things that don't make much sense, which makes it difficult to really understand them and their motivations.  Also, the inclusion of Stella's father and his fiance throws an odd dynamic into the story that never really seems to fit. Overall, Earn Your Extra Credit is a good story that would have been much better with more consistency in the execution.

Four and a half stars! I rounded down to 4 for Amazon/goodreads for only one reason. Miscommunication. 

Meghan Quinn always has me hooked on every page of every book and this was no different. Stella and Romeo are 🤌. This is full of miscommunication though so it was at times frustrating and I just kept screaming at the characters. There are equal amounts of humour, sexiness, and angst to keep you glued to the story though, so that's helpful. I'm not much of an emotional reader and I rarely cry with books, but this hit me a couple of times. I'm not sure if it's because I'm on my own personal self-reflection journey, or what, but I shed a few tears. 

Highly suggest this series for funny and quirky characters!

WOWOWOW, okay i loved this book. I’ve never read anything from Meghan Quinn before and this was such a fun and addictive read for me. I laughed SOOO MUCH. And I was so so thoroughly invested in Stella and Brock. I was literally giddy for them 100% of the way through and I knew I was going to love the book just a few chapters in. 

I will admit that there’s a ton of miscommunication between them and a lot of avoidance, and while it could be a little frustrating, I wouldn’t say that it took the enjoyment out of the book. There’s so much cute and flirty banter in here and none of them fell flat. 

Let me just say how much I love Keiko’s character!! She’s just so real and unassuming and I literally laughed at all of her dialogues. I thought the friendship dynamics were good, not 100% perfect, but I didn’t find any issue with them large enough to turn me off. 

AND THIS WAS SPICY (like average spice, 3 🌶) AND I WAS SO PLEASED TO FIND OUT IT WAS SPICY. It’s not that I didn’t think it wouldn’t be?! but I also didn’t really go into it expecting spice?? 

The synopsis hooked me and a fake dating trope set in Maui is enough to drive me forward. My cheeks literally hurt from grinning so much and every single step they took in the right direction together had me screaming into my pillow in victory for them. 

I went tab crazy on this book, even going so far as having 3 tabs in a single page (this is why I used to only dogear, ITS SO MUCH CHEAPER LMAO 😂)

100% enjoyed it—such a light and fun read for me and every single time I put the book down, I was basically forced to.

READ IT IF YOU WANT, but I definitely recommend!!

Even though the plot is cliche, I ended up liking this book. First, it was fast-paced and I had fun reading it. Second, enemies-to-lovers trope. Third, Romeo is hot. Fourth, it has a lot of messages. It tackles a lot of issues that some readers may relate to. Divorce, Love, Bullying, Fear of Commitment, Insecurity, and more. I admire Romeo for waiting even though Stella did him wrong on that "date". I disliked her for being clueless despite the obvious and for using him. I just really hate the miscommunication plot in every book.

I also understand Stella must have felt when she learned about the new "mom". If I were in her shoes, I would feel wrong and betrayed as well. They never had closure and she never heard any apologies. That's why it's totally normal for her to act that way because it would feel like the new "mom" was just using her dad. But when I learned about the truth, I just cried hard, especially for her dad. I couldn't imagine the burden he thinks of himself to HIS FAMILY and how lonely he must felt when it happened. I'm so glad that he found happiness and he got closer to Stella again.

This book discussed three types of love - love for family, love for a partner/relationship, and love for oneself. The plot may be cliche but I fell in love with the messages that the author had delivered to the readers. It was beautiful. I highly recommend it!

I loved Romeo and Stella!! I wanted their story since the previous book and the story was amazing and fun, I loved the banter between their group and the interactions between them. I loved their book club and how they did everything but read books😂 Keeks was one of my favorites, her non filter mouth made me laugh everytime she said something and I hope to read more about her and Kelvin, especially after that ending in the extended epilogue. I want to read about Cora too, she deserves a happy ending and those hints to her and Pike make me want to know what can happen between them.

The story was very easy to read and I love the moments between Romeo and Stella, they were friends for a long time but Romeo didn’t know what to do with his new feelings for her and it was hard to stay away especially being in Hawaii with the group for 2 weeks. He really tried to relax but he knew he could never say no to a favor for Stella so little by little their interactions started changing and he realized he wanted more from her.

At first it was hard for them to act as the friends they were because Romeo didn’t know how to act in front of her without her knowing how he felt about her, but after needing his help they had to spend time together and that definitely helped them realize their feelings and how they truly felt. They had some great moments in Hawaii and I loved when they had fun and just spend time together. They were born stubborn but they were able to help the other open up about their lives and feelings and start sharing their opinions. I also loved their steamy scenes, they always had chemistry and throughout the book we can see how much they want each other, after their kiss they couldn’t keep their hands to each other even if at first they didn’t know how to react. Then at school they had some problems, they both needed to realize what they truly wanted but at the end they worked everything out and got their HEA.
