DNF at 27% - I was looking forward to reading this one! The premise seemed interesting and I loved that it was set in Greece, but the humor and social awkwardness of the FMC was just too cheesy and cringe for me.

Tropes: slow burn, friends(ish) to lovers 

This book had me cackling at points. This is by far one of the funniest romances I’ve read and I look forward to reading more Meghan Quinn. 

Tessa heads to Greece to celebrate her twin sister’s wedding at their family’s yearly vacation spot. Years ago there was a boy there every summer that she crushed on, but hasn’t seen in the past seven years. But wait, is that him?

This book had me cackling at points. This is by far one of the funniest romances I’ve read and I look forward to reading more Meghan Quinn.

Tessa is once again visiting a resort in Santorini, a place where her family has vacationed for years, but this time she is there for her twin sister, Roxanne's wedding.  Since Tessa is 30, Roxanne and her friends have decided to enforce the contract they made in high school forcing Tessa to surrender her love life to them.  In doing so, they plan several embarrassing situations to force Tessa into finding a boyfriend, but all she really wants is Myles, the man she has had a crush on for years, who she would see each time they visited the resort.  Myles feels the same way about Tessa, but as they try to develop a relationship, Tessa's friends and family just keep getting in the way.

Vacation Wars is a really good story that gets lost in uneven pacing and tone as well as fickle characters that flip flop from lovable to vicious within a few pages.  The descriptions of the locations stand out as a strength, but they aren't enough to smooth out this rocky story that bounces from rom-com to overly dramatic women's fiction.  Even though Tessa and Myles are the protagonists, they are on the sidelines because most of the problems are created by other characters.  Overall, Vacation Wars is a major disappointment from Meghan Quinn, who is one of my favorite authors.  Unfortunately this really promising story premise is wasted in poor execution.
