I am still thinking about how to review this novella. I'm amazed that the author was able to put so much emotion in to such a short story. Not all writers are able to do this the way Mel Walker did. Somebody's Heartbreak takes place in a day. Blake took a trip after his relationship ended and runs into Alexis. She promises him a day to make him forget all of his problems and be able to move on the next day. 

This story is pretty appealing. Is someone able to make someone forget about all of their problems in one day? On top of that, be able to move on as well? I was curious to see where this book would go. Their day is filled with silly little tasks (folding paperboats and letting things go while they float away, deleting a playlist that his ex put on his phone, etc). On top of that we get the little town feeling. Everyone knows everything. I had my doubts if the author could pull something like this off in 9 chapters. 

Mel Walker gave us a story of two people who are both in pain and seeking relief. Alexis has her own history and finding out the reason she wants to help people be happy is really heartbreaking. I'm not a big fan of love at first sight, but it's clear that these two people have a connection. I loved that both of the characters were able to move on a bit more than the day before. Admitting he never wants to lose her again after 24 hours, just seemed a bit too much for me. I would've also liked some more about Alexis, maybe a chapter from her POV. All in all, a beautiful story of letting things go and letting yourself feel again.
