⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 *Audiobook* Book 2 continues to follow Keera in her search to bring an end to the Kings tyrannical rule with the help of her new allies and friends. Book 2 we definitely get a lot of questions answered from book 1, and we get to find out more about Keera’s past. As far as spice/romance we do get a litttttle bit more spice, but it’s definitely still character/plot driven. The narration style of this book often times feels very cut and dry and doesn’t seem to have a lot of emotional weight to the style of writing in my opinion—however Kyla Garcia does a VERY good job on her narration on the audio book. Overall would still recommend this series for those who overall enjoy a good fantasy story and are not just in it for the romance alone a lot of great world building and lovable side characters.

I think this was a decent sequel to the first book. The plot, while a little stilted in some places, did exist and kept moving which I think is usually the problem in a new author’s second novel. There were several points of transition though that I though were abrupt and confusing. Major points would be revealed and then all of the sudden the FMC was playing a training game with children. Then Blair would hash out the conversation off page which felt like a opportunities missed. I liked several elements of the romance but I thought their fight and eventual come together was a bit disjointed and over unearned so that was disappointing. I guessed about 70% of the plot twist but the other 30% is definitely intriguing. I will be finishing the series for sure.
