This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance Tru Blue is the first book of the Whiskey's series and after reading the most recent release "Taming My Whiskey" I just knew I had to pick up all the other books and I remember when this book was released and all the love and praise for this book. And finally I grabbed up this book and WHEW it was so so good. Not quite as good as Taming My Whiskey but I still loved it almost as much. But the FEELS in this story was so captivating and I fell so quickly for the characters in this book. What I have become really impressed with is how character driven these books are. “In a perfect world,” she said softly. “We both would have had loving parents, and you never would have faced what you did. We didn’t grow up in a perfect world, but you’re my perfect.” Tru Blue begins with our hero who has been released from prison for commiting a crime he didn't commit. Trying to protect his younger brother and mother. Truman has always been the rock in the family and has had to cover so many times for his mother who is a drug addict. But now he is free and working with the Whiskey family, trying to put his life back together and keep on the straight and narrow. Until he gets a call from his brother and he finds their place of residence and finds his mother dead, his brother high on drugs and two children who are his siblings that he knew nothing about. An infant and a toddler living in a place dirty and not fit for an adult let alone children. He takes them out of there and instantly falls in love with these two innocents and willing to take full responsibility for them. “If there’s one thing I’ve realized with Kennedy and Lincoln,” he said quietly, “it’s that whether they’re yours in the traditional sense or not doesn’t matter. The heart doesn’t care about bloodlines or birth parents. It just seems to know how to love in the same way our lungs know how to breathe.” But while at a store trying to find what he needs for his babies a young woman reaches out to help him out. Gemma has always wanted a home and a family. She might have grown up with wealth but she always craved love and affection which she never received. Then she stumbles into this hot beast of a man who is gruff around the edges but is so tender with two little children and she instantly falls hard for Truman. But he has a past and a complicated life, will Gemma be able to put her reservations aside to open herself to love? Beneath all that rough armor was the kindest, gentlest, most loyal man she could ever imagine. He wasn’t Prince Charming, and he wasn’t the type of man her mother would ever approve of. But he was real, and he was good, and at this very second, as he unfolded his massive, masculine frame and maneuvered around the bedrails he must have bought over the last day for Kennedy’s bed, he looked at Gemma like he’d just left a chunk of his heart on the mattress. Tru Blue was such a heartfelt story and I fell so hard for this book. From the first chapter I was CAPTIVATED. Its books like Tru Blue that make me realize how much I love seeing children in romance novels. I know that this trope isn't for everyone but I LOVE it when its written so well. These children are so stunning in their emotional vivid portrayal in the story and I couldn't get enough of it. I was won so quickly over especially with Truman and his two siblings who just cling to him so quickly. We see how they have been so neglected they have been and my heart just ached for it, wanting to give them my love. As a reader you fall in love so quickly with the story. What I really admired was our hero. He was such a fabulous hero and I love how honest he is with Gemma. He doesn't keep much from her and even though she does struggle with the truth, he keeps firm on who he is. He is such a solid rock despite all that he has gone through in his life. Gemma took some warming up to at times, especially in seeing how long it took her to fully accept Truman. But when she does let go of those preconceptions she becomes a solid heroine that you want to fight for as well. She looked down at her sleeve to see if her heart had slid out from her chest. This man did not need to change. He was perfect just the way he was. Overall I found Tru Blue to be a emotional roller coaster that gravitates the reader to these precious characters guaranteed to win your heart with such fierce devotion!!

A maze zing This was incredible to spread I love it from start to finish if ouldnt have asked for better so sweet and I loved the back story of the. Characters just incredible

"He wore the skin of a killer and bore the heart of a lover. That was the tangled web of lies he’d created to protect those he loved, and it would forever more be the cloak that shrouded him. Once he revealed his past, she’d never look at him like this again". OMG! I have read my fair share of Melissa Foster’s books. There were some that I loved, and some not so much, but none has never owned my heart the way Tru Blue did. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster ride, which I am yet to recover from. Tru Blue is the kind of story that will bring tears to your eyes and put a smile on your face. It's filled with hope, love, joy, heartache, passion and tenderness. The first thing that caught my attention was the cover. It sent a very powerful message, which is backed up by the contents of the book. When I began reading, I could barely contain myself as the heartbreaking scenes began to unfold. From that moment, I knew that this story would take a different turn from all the other books that I have read from this author. The story was not the only thing to own my heart. Truman took a piece for himself. I love it when a man is loyal, caring and protective and Truman Grit was all that and more. He did not have an easy life growing up. He was abandoned by his father and his mother was a drug addict. Truman was able to rise above this, however, fate had different plans for him when he was sent to prison for a crime he did not commit. It is said that prison hardens a man, but Truman was anything but hard. He may appear hard on the outside, but beneath that hardened exterior laid a heart bursting with love. The way he stepped in to care for his siblings with no hesitation was an indication of the loving person he was. It was quite understandable why Gemma was drawn to him.Gemma Wright dreams of finding a man who knows how to love, who is a good father and would not run at the first sign of trouble. All the things her own father was not. The night she met Truman, she knew her dream had become a reality. She is very pushy and takes no for an answer, which Truman will come to discover, when she unwittingly wormed her way into his life. She exploded in his life in such a manner that he had no desire to push her out. His only fear was that he would lose her when she discovered his secret. Gemma, accepted Truman for the loving and protective person that he was. She did not judge him. She was perfect for him, despite their different backgrounds.Melissa Foster is known for writing hot and sweet romance stories and Tru Blue was no exception. The way Tru and Gemma met was absolutely adorable. From that moment their attraction to each other developed into something meaningful. This story was not just about romance. It touched on real life issues such as drug abuse and wrongful incarceration. I have seen firsthand the ravaging effects of drug addiction so I could understand what Truman was dealing it from a very young age. Watching his mother and brother spiralling out of control could not have been easy. View all my reviews
