I pretty much knew the story already, both the Disney version and the actual Hans Christian Andersen version as well, but I mainly wanted to read this because of the artwork. I loved the art, though the faces sometimes looked a bit odd in my opinion, but damn it was such a pretty book. I loved the use of blue and the subtle differences between each sister. I think I may try out some more books by this duo, if they have anything I'm interested in, of course!

This is a fairly standard retelling of The Little Mermaid, though Metaphrog's art is quite vivid and beautiful. There are a few pages were his faces feel a bit off, and I do dislike how blank faced the characters look at times. But the overall impression of the pages is quite striking. On the other hand, this retelling doesn't give us a new look at the old story, save for a tweak to the ending where the Little Mermaid looks forward to discovering what life is like as an Immortal.
