2025: decided to reread this for my riohallie hangover. i didn't realize how long ago i read this and i have different feelings after rereading this three years later. sadly, i didn't love this as much as past me did like wow this book is cruder than i last remember but it was still fun. 

2021 - 5 stars: I ATE THIS UPP AND IT WAS DELICIOUS AHHHHH this book was my cup of tea!! I loved everything! Even though the plot isn't anything new and there were some flaws, I'm still obsessed. It may not be the best but ITS THE BEST FOR ME!!! the addictive writing style paired with my favorite tropes told in a fast pace manner in a way where I wasn't bored. the book just jumped right into it and my impatient ass appreciated that. also in the beginning, they mentioned wizards of waverly place and I was hooked  (not to be dramatic) this book gave me LIFE. I was literally so bored, trying to find something to read and excite me AND THIS BOOK DID IT but its overrr now I'm sad  Even with the epilogue and bonus scene (AHHH THE BONUS), I still want more of Rory and Mascen!  this book is very childhood friends to enemies to lovers! with dual pov!! the banter was chefs kisses!!!   i love that Rory takes NO SHIT and that's good since Mascen is a total ass  the boy is VERY ANGSTY but such a momma's boy! also his name is Mascen (autocorrect was like wtf) ... i know yikes but his full name is Mascen Zane Wade . . . i know it got worse LOL ALSOO OMG his dad owns Hedgehogs as pets!! and the names for the hedgehogs omg Quilly Wonka… Quillium Shakespeare LOL and he has a whole room for hedgehogs   I kinda wish we got to see more background on Rory and her sister or maybe her sister visiting Rory. idk I'm curious to know more about Hazel and why the two sisters drifted, the book never really explained why they fell apart after everything   btw Rory marching into the locker room for Mascen is soo Hilary Duff yelling at Chad Michael Murray from a Cinderella’s Story WAITING FOR YOU IS LIKE WAITING FOR RAIN IN A DROUGHT   I also found out that the parents of Mascen also have a book and his uncles, cousin, sister all have books like wow now i have to read of them

Rory y Mascen eran mejores amigos a la tierna edad de 8 y 10 años, por cosas del destino tuvieron que separarse, y ahora 10 años después vuelven a encontrarse, no en las mejores condiciones debo decir, las chispas saltan, la tensión entre ellos aumentan, y deben de descubrir si pueden ser más que amigos. 

Este es un libro childhood friends to enemies to lovers con cliché universitario. Estuve bien, me gustó. Después de estar leyendo tanta fantasía y distopia cualquier cosa con solo romance es más que bien recibida. 

Lo que me gustó:
- Disfruté mucho de leer la personalidad de Rory, no hay exactamente un motivo, simplemente se me hizo muy linda y tierna.
- El tiempo que pasaron Mascen y Rory en casa con los padres de él. Fueron muy lindos momentos porque sentí que volvían a donde todo comenzó y obtenían un cierre.
- Las amigas de Rory, Li y Kenna, sobre todo esta última, me gustaron mucho, tenía la esperanza de que tuvieran su propio libro.
- Este es un libro ligero, sirve para propósitos como simplemente pasar el rato, no se complica y no te hace sufrir, lo cual es lo que necesitaba.

Sí hubo cosas que no me gustaron como el motivo del odio de Mascen con Rory, fue muy estúpido. Dude ella tuvo que irse por lo que le pasó a su papá, deja de ser un bebé crece. O también el hecho que de hicieran cosas a las espaldas de Cole, that was a big NOP. El final se me hizo medio rápido, pero no me molestó. 

RoryMascen son cutes y creo que seguiré con la serie.

Yeah, I found this author on TikTok and was super excited to give their work a try but the writing is just not good. The characters really had no chemistry and there was so much random stuff that happened in the plot that just seemed, well, random. I also don’t get any chemistry and the smut was all so late in the book. I could have edited out 60% of the book and still have gotten the same thing from it.

For some reason I always pick up Willow Creek books, or spin offs, without ever finishing either series.
But I liked this book. I liked Mascen. I like how vulnerable and not perfect he is. I did find his mood swings a bit hard to follow at times, but that’s okay.
Rory was a bit more hard to understand. I really wanted, and I think needed more of her history, for both Mascen and Rory’s stories.
But this is a solid book. A little bit up and down, but still solid.
There is one thing that bothers me though. Mascen Wade - Tijan’s Mason Kade. All I could think of every time I saw it.

2.5 there were times where i thought i was enjoying this but ??? both rory and mascen were kinda pathetic and then i just got really bored when they finally got together. and the writing was mediocre at best. like the parts where she’s waiting tables are so unnecessarily long like why ?? do i ?? care ?? literally contributed nothing to the story.

This was unexpectedly a fun read! I went in knowing nothing about it and am already sad to see it’s ended. Rory and Mascen were childhood best friends and a tragedy split them apart for ten years until they meet again at College. Mascen is the bad boy, keeling everyone at arms length, but being a cutie mommas boy and softie for his sisters, we love that!! His anger and billy attitude didn’t make sense T first but then I kinda understood. Seeing it at his perspective, he felt like he had claim to Rory, and the way he met her for the first time in ten years really pissed him off. I think he got off on a their banter, it really spiced it up for them and I was living for it near the middle of the book!!!

Mascen tried so hard fighting his feelings, it was obvious from the start he was into her, just mad at himself that he was. I liked seeing him become such a softie for her, and his sweet interactions with his Mom, as a boy mom myself, it really warmed my heart.

As for Rory, i’m glad she found friends and a family she could finally rely on and trust, poor girl has been through so much.

I would dove right into the next book in The Boys series, but I really need to read the Willow Creek series because they’ve already been in all of Smeltzer’s books that i’ve read and I need to know where it all began, or what the fuss is about.

I’m starting to really love Smeltzer’s writing and am completely diving into the world and characters she has created!

ehm yeah i’m disappointed. it was okay in the beginning, but throughout the book it kept getting worse.

firstly, when i got to know the reason he was hating her i already knew i wasn’t gonna like the book. it was so stupid like?? cmon author you can come up with something more better than that.

continuing; their whole relationship felt forced and i didn’t root for them at all. they had no chemistry. the dialogue was so cringy at times i legit winced. didn’t really care for either of the mcs or their relationship. give me a few months and i’ve forgotten their names. 

BUT cole on the other hand, MY MAN. i adore him. so excited to read his book. pls pls pls let it be good.

Childhood best friends to enemies to lovers could I ask for anything better?
Literally had a huge bi panic, didn’t know if I wanted Rory or to be her. The smut is impeccable. Rory’s friendships are literally something to be jealous of. I simply loved this book so much.

This will be up there in the list of sports romances I recommend for people who are looking for them. It was a good book and I’m excited to read the other books as well.

This series (The Boys) is a sports college romance series.

"Bad boys breaks hearts" is a childhood friends to enemies/haters to lovers.
The male main character is kind of a dick, bully at times, but still I kind of liked him 😂. I definitely loved that he called Rory "princess" and I only wish to be called that too now 😂

If you've read and liked the Off Campus series I would tell you to give this series a try!

Until about half of the book I was extremely bored and irritated with the male character. I was even considering giving up reading, but I decided to continue and I'm glad. I don't know how it happened yet, but from one moment to the next I was very invested in their relationship and I couldn't stop until it was over. A book that I thought I was just going to abandon and so it was about 2 stars in the first 40%, became very involving, being about 4.5 stars after that.
 In general, I think I will give 3.75 stars.
