A new age perspective on mediation and eastern philosophy influenced by Buddhism. I got onto this book after reading The Surrender Experiment which is his autobiography.

The book was really well written and at a time when he was experiencing immense stress. 

I am a student of Vipassana meditation and the techniques in this book overlap with much of this thinking. Especially covering the idea that meditation releases Sankharas which are patterns of reaction that are formed in response to experiences.

This taught me some powerful insights, particularly part 2 and 5. however, this may have been too spiritual for me and I had trouble with part 3.

Voice of thoughts is your narrator for your life.

Lucidity means that you have control over your focus.

You must learn to accept change in order to grow. That's results face the fear and resolve conflict. Thus one needs experience of conflict to go through to not center it's influence of fear around whole life choices. 

>You should let go of fear and embrace change when it comes.

>The path to God, luckily, is within us. It is found through the practices of finding and claiming the seat in the center of our consciousness

>God is the greatest consciousness from which all consciousness is born, and the height of spiritual understanding is to merge back with the consciousness of God. In that place, the individual consciousness joins the universal oneness. 

Whenever you face problem, try to feel peace and tackle the problem within you, that is your fear. This will allow you to experience the issue and learn from it. This is how you grow.

This book does a good job of presenting the idea that we are not our thoughts, but rather we are just the observers of them. Whilst easier said than done, the author encourages you to allow thoughts and feelings to pass, the same way you would if you were observing cars on a motorway, letting things in and then out and closing an energy loop. We let lots of emotions and energy occupy our mind and heart when in reality, little of it contributes to our overall feeling of being content if we judge everything meticulously. 

There is a fair bit of spirituality in here which might not be for everyone, but if you choose to take some of the practicing and teachings, this book will be useful to you.

I loved this book, it has so many insights on how to stay centered, overcome our fears and to just experience life as it is, without getting too attached to any given experience. 

The book was especially helpful, as I was reading right after a spiritual retreat.

That was actually a really good book (for me)! I'm a worrier and sometimes struggle with anxiety, and books on spirituality always help me recenter a little bit. 

This one reminded me of The Power Of Now, but it made a lot more sense (I did read TPON two years ago and it was my first book of this kind, so maybe I would understand it better now). Yes, it is a little bit too New Agey, but that didn't bother me because what it says is ultimately true – you do have control over your thoughts and the mental chatter, and that's the bane of your existence – not the events in your life.
