Going on my Books Every Human Should Read list. This one is incredibly important, particularly for Americans, as it breaks down moral questions to a depth unheard of in our current public discourse. It ends on an optimistic note, suggesting how and why it matters that we discuss things like inequality in a particular way. Highly recommended, but plan time to work through this one slowly.

solid and very accessible overview of major theories of justice accompanied by present-day case studies. kind of bewildering, however, that in all of his cases re abortion / surrogacy there is no reference to female-identifying philosophers and i'm pretty sure in cases re race there is no reference to non-white philosophers despite no lack of these perspectives -- but i suppose it's only meant to be a broad overview since ethics is a giant area of philosophy and it is still a good discussion starter/introductory text
