okay so i saw this book on booktok and bookstagram and i saw that it was a single mom and a tattoo guy then that’s it i added to my tbr and i read it and finally i finished it….sweat to god don’t you just love it when a grown up man fighting with a kid bcs of funyuns….LIKE THATS CUTE YET SO ANNOYING…let me just talk about the characters first, hadley is a great mom she’s super strong and i’m so proud of her, she deserves to get a happy ending. elijah a man with full tattoos, he’s grumpy but the way he has a soft spot for lucy and eli is just sooooo adorable :( their friendship is the cutest like i understand how and why elijah wants to protect them and to be with them forever. the plot in so fast-paced, and its not too drama and no angsty just full of steams and cute moments… overall i really enjoyed this book and i gave it 4 stars!!!!

This book was so so good. I only give it 4.5 stars because of how judgmental Elijah was at the beginning; and two specific things he said about EBT and the projects. I loved their friendship flourishing and the connections that grew between Elijah and Lucy, as well as Eli. I love when the title of the book is incorporated into the dialogue, it’s the most perfect scenes of the book, and this just proved my point more. I devoured half of this book between 12-3am, it was that good, I couldn’t put it down. The love and the realization, the emotions and the heat, and how Elijah loves only Harley’s kids was so cute and perfect. They are such a wholesome family and I love their story

I’m still crying (happy tears) after finishing it. This book has left a mark on me forever, and probably will stay on my mind for SO MANY days. I can truly say it’s one of the most heartwarming and beautiful books I’ve ever read; I’ll definitely reread it in the future.

This is one of the sweetest books I’ve ever read, it’s so pure and beautiful. Elijah getting along and loving Hadley’s kids 😩🛐. I feel like something was missing but I can’t pinpoint what exactly. Still I liked it very very much. I want an Elijah in my life, a grumpy man to spoil me? I want that immediately.

Also, a giant tattooed man holding a baby might be my new kink.

A.M.E.I. este livro.
Protagonistas super carismáticos e as crianças completamente adoráveis. Não sei o que dizer sobre este livro, li de uma vez e achei completamente viciante. 
A força da protagonista em tomar conta dos filhos, o protagonista que odeia crianças mas ama as crianças dela e o romance construído de forma lenta e adorável, tornam este livro totalmente um favorito.
Por favor leiam. A sério. Não se vai arrepender.

           Llevo varios días sin leer, y decidí que sería una buena idea comenzar con este libro porque tenía muchos tropes que me encantan y tal (single mom, age gap, neighbors romance, slow burn, etc), y en serio pensé que sería como que mi impulso para salir de este bloqueo lector (que no es un bloqueo, sino algún tipo de apatía que nada me engancha o llama la atención suficiente), pero EN FIN:

¿Qué pasó con este libro?

Para comenzar, entre todas las razones por las cuales lo leí, fue porque vi a un MONTÓN de personas decir que este libro era una joyita, que era increíble, etc etc etc. Así que, decidí confiar y me lancé esta lectura.

En efecto, puedo entender porque todo el mundo le gusta este libro. O sea un tipo todo tatuado y malhumorado que se enamora de una madre soltera, y se engancha con sus hijos, hasta el punto que hace que deje de sentirse tan miserable y al final tengan esta familia super linda. No fue la mejor manera de explicarlo, pero ahí está la esencia de todo.

Sin embargo... yo no conecté con la historia, y siento que no fue un romance para mí.

Comenzando por Elijah... ¿Por qué era tan imbécil con los niños? O sea me parece chévere que no tenga paciencia con estos, pero me parece super raro que un tipo de casi 30 años se ande peleando con una niña de cUATRO AÑOS !!!!! para ponerse a pensar ok? ok. porque no era el típico grumpy y tal, porque tampoco es que tenía una triste historia y tal, sino que el man solo tenía un palo metido en el cul0 me parece, porque no me explico la mayoría de sus actitudes al principio. y claro, tampoco me agradó que al principio estuviese juzgando y criticando a Hadley SIN CONOCERLA, o sea qué rabia me dio, con qué derecho. y ajá muy lindo que se haya enamorada de ella, y encontrara una familia muy linda y tal, pero es que no sé... el man no me cuadró y ya.

Además, qué onda con eso de su fantasía de las tetas… cuando una mujer está lactando???? O sea al principio me dio risa porque el man quedó como que “oh las tetas no solo son decorativas tienen otras funciones que no tienen que ver con los hombres” y ajá hasta ahí bien, pero cuando comenzaron las escenas hot me dio mucho CRINGE como el man comenzaba a… ¿succionar? o sea un montón, lo peor es que Elijah la estaba pasando de maravilla. 

Scott... oh qué pedazo de mierda. o sea literal este fue el personaje más realista de la historia, porque qué asco de persona, qué decepción de hombre, qué horrible todo lo relacionado a él. Primero, porque el man era el típico chico consentido de mami y papi, que no le enseñaron a ser responsable ni a tener iniciativa, e iba de aquí para allá sin tener una idea de nada, y le gustaban las cosas fáciles y que no involucraran mucho trabajo. O sea, el tipo era tan asqueroso, que hizo que Hadley lo MANTUVIERA, mientras ella estaba en la universidad, lidiando con un trabajo y EMBARAZADA !!!!! O SEA QUÉ HDP. Lo peor es que, el man tuvo el descaro de ENGAÑARLA con su prima, y luego andarle rogando para que regresaran y utilizando a los hijos para llegar a ella. qué personaje más desagradable.

Ahora, esto es raro... pero en serio tuve mis problemas con Hadley, y no por nada raro pero... amiga, ¿qué haces a los 21 años con dos hijos? no sé cómo es el pensamiento de los americanos, o el pensamiento de otras mujer en general. y chévere que quieras tener hijos, maravilloso que quieras tener un familia y seas excelente madre, pero... ¿por qué tan joven? no lo sé, no lo entiendo. una cosa es un accidente, que es válido y entendible, pero porque las ganas de tener otro hijo en esa situación tan difícil en la que ya estaba, en la que tenía que hacer malabares con su carrera, un trabajo, un esposo vago y una niña pequeña. ahí no lo entiendo, y eso simplemente me hizo ruido a lo largo de todo el libro...

y otra cosa que me pareció tan ??? es que ella tuviera tanto conflicto con que sus hijos, Eli y Lucy, se refirieran a Elijah como "papá". y más porque, entiendo que Scott era el padre y ella no quería dañar la imagen de él ante sus hijos, porque no quería rebajarse a ese nivel, pero siento que hubo un poquito de drama al respecto, y acá podía entrar tranquilamente el concepto de que "papá no es el que engendra, sino el que cría" así que no entiendo porque tanto drama al respecto. Si Elijah hizo más por esos niños que cualquier otra persona.

ahora, siento que una vez más un niño ha cargado con el peso de todo este libro: Lucy. A ver, me parecía que sus dialogos no iban acorden a su edad y todo eso, pero realmente me gustó esa niña y me sentía muy identificada con ella en eso de que la obligaran a tener que ir a la casa de su papá y sus abuelos aunque no quisiera, porque eran personas asquerosas que lo único que hacían era criticar a su madre.

así que eso, el libro en sí es chévere pero no fue para mí y ya.

Don't you love a grumpy-sunshine? Or a single-parent trope? Or a happily ever after? Or when there's no big drama/fight where the MMC fucked up and he has to apologize like crazy? Well, this book has everything LOVE IT!

I loved the concept, and Lucy was really cute. I gave it 4/5 because while I loved the book, it was very meh. Like I never cried, I laughed a lot though. I was super smiley by the end, and I loved the dynamic between the couple. Also, screw the baby daddy. 4/5 ⭐️

You can really feel the conection between Elijah and the kids and its so cute and funny. This book gave me Lilah's vibes but with her being a single mom and it was simply perfect.
