Dark Prince

Vampires and witches, yes please. I enjoyed the evolution of this story. The mysterious interaction between the characters kept me interested. The flow of the story was one that helped everything fall into place. The world building was easy to follow, I enjoyed the character traits of Luca, he was so dark and compelling. This story gives me crave/ vampire academy vibes but in an adult setting, it was great to see the mix of characters and magic. 

I would have loved to learn more about the vampires as a whole but we did get enough info to make out the plot and the relationships in the book. Definitely looking forward to reading the next book!

If your love of vampires started with books or adaptations such as Twilight or The Vampire Diaries (like yours truly), then DARK PRINCE is a must read! The academic setting gave me all of the nostalgic vibes of my teen years with an added element of smexy spice that made it all the more addicting! I loved the world building, which had a great blend of paranormal species such as vampires, witches, shifters and even ghosts, but lots of great backstory that added an original touch to familiar concepts. The author also has an amazing cast of characters at her disposal that allows her to fully explore all the nuances of her world. The vampires were by far my favorite. They were sexy, they were bloodthirsty and they were hella mysterious! But I am also very intrigued to learn more about the witches and the shifters. Especially regarding a certain familiar. If you know, you know.

I also very much enjoyed the main pairing of the novel, Lucca and Vivi. Vivi especially took some warming up to, but I loved following her growth throughout the novel and adored how central sibling bonds and friendships were in her story. I do admit that I would have liked some more scenes with her and Lucca. I did love their interactions, but I missed some of those pivotal, deep moments that sign the transitions from lust to love, especially leading up to one of their big reveals. 

Even so, I very much enjoyed Dark Prince. It’s the perfect binge book for lovers of paranormal romance and spice, and the perfect starting point for the series. I can’t wait to dive into the next one, which will be focusing on Aurora, one of my favorite characters!

I was craving a story with smexy but dark vampires and this one gave me exactly that! Lucca is so intense, exactly like how like my vampires! 

My favorite aspect of the story were indeed the vampires, their lore, and the rivalries between the two clans. The worldbuilding is interesting. I really appreciated how the author gave us the information in little bites either through dialogue or a small paragraph, avoiding info-dumping it all on us. It's a lot of fascinating information, but I was able to keep track of it all. I’m sure there’s still more to uncover in the next books and I am here for it! 

The vampires were my favorites also among the cast of characters—and Aurora. She’s a witch and just awesome. (I was really excited to see she’s the protagonist in the next book!) I enjoyed the other characters, but besides Vivienne, I don’t feel like we’ve seen enough of them yet. 

The romance was addicting! I drank it in and enjoyed every moment, especially when we were in Lucca’s perspective. I loved seeing how he moved from anger, to hunger, to fascination, and eventually to lust and love. Vivi doesn’t begin the book as the type of main character I usually enjoy reading, but she toughens up and “bites” back throughout the book. 

The pacing was great overall, but I feel like the action at the end and the big reveal were a little rushed.

I am SO obsessed with this book!! Vampires own my soul and I am especially WEAK for these Blueblood vamps. Also forever in love with Lucca and Vivienne’s tumultuous romance. I definitely plan to keep binging this series because I’m desperate to know more about each and every one of the characters we meet in this first installment!

Highly recommended for fans of dark academia paranormal romance settings like the Crave series, and of course vampire romance lovers in the mood for fast-paced spice!
