It should have killed them both, but the egg somehow absorbed enough of it to keep them alive. The apartment, actually, the building, did not fare so well. Kaylin will have to worry about finding a new place later, because it is time for her to travel to the West March as payment for Lord Nightshade's information on the Exchequer. What a trip it will be!! These books just keep getting better! If I could go higher than a 5 star rating, I would.
