I 100% started reading this book just because of a book edit I saw on Instagram. I didn't look at the cover, I didn't read the blurb, I had no clue who the author wasI just dove right in and I don't regret it for one second. This is my very first time reading Mila Finelli and it won't be my last. I was truly surprised how much I actually like this book. It had me entranced from the beginning and I mean I loved the chemistry between Francesca and Fausto, it was steamy! I also loved all the side characters, especially Guilio and Zia. I already started reading book two because I just can’t get enough.

I think this is the only mafia book I've read that wasn't set in America.

Piccolina *sigh* The Italian... I was turned on even though I couldn't comprehend a word! All night long, Fausto could whisper in my ear.
I need this in the audio version asap! OH Shit the ending... wait let me get book 2.

This duet is SO GOOD.

Frankie, main female character, is sassy and strong. I love her dynamic with Fausto. He is your classic alphahole, misogynistic dickwad.. who you love. You really want to hate him, but you can't... and neither can Frankie. The spice is.. so good. WHEW BOY.

I would warn my fellow surprise baby trope haters, there is surprise baby trope here... BUT I didn't hate it? It's not shoved in your face over and over, and that made it tolerable for me. The spice and drama reined over it.

I’m sorry it look me so long to read this, I will never ever ever doubt my bestie Alexandra again okay! When I say favorite book of the year I mean it. I don’t know what is going to top this because this duet gave me everything I needed and more. 

This story is follows Francesca who grew up in the life but wants nothing to do with it. Unfortunately for her though her father owes a very powerful Capo a debt & she ends up paying the price by having to marry his son. This is easily one of the best mafia/ enemies to lovers books I’ve read. Frankie & Paparino(daddy) have my whole heart.

Honestly from the jump of this book I was obsessed with the writing and hooked into the story. Frankie is such a feisty, strong, funny & badass FMC & Fausto is everything a mafia man should be. He’s controlling, dominant, traditional, calculating, cold & sexy as fuck. Please leave your feminism at the door for this one okay.

The chemistry between these two was literally so intense & I loved the way the author built their relationship going from really loathing each other to being intrigued & obsessed with one another. Can we talk about the Italian being thrown around? Fück that shit was so damn hot & daddy Fausto is a dirty talking king who loves to EAT ahkayyyy

This book does end on a cliffhanger & there is a plot twist that might make you wanna fight air but I promise it’s redeemed in book 2. Push through all the way to the end please. If you hate it I give you permission to be mad at me.

5/5⭐️ and 4.5/5 for spice. Literally there was spice, steam, tension throughout the enter book with daddy/brat dynamics that i LOVED!!!! Also, solid mafia elements too. The author does an amazing job of painting a romantic Calabrian estate that transports you there. 

You will absolutely hate Fausto at the start quickly start to fall in love with him and by the end you’ll hate him all over again!! Frankie didn’t annoy me as usual as some other heroines in mafia romances do..she had spirit and loved her attitude. 

Frankie was engaged to Fausto’s son but Fausto was so obsessed with her he calls off their engagement to keep her as his mistress. His son Guilio has a secret that if it is exposed it could very well end up with him killed. It added to the entire plot because you knew that shoe was going to drop at any second! 

There is a slight surprise baby trope that I dont necessarily hate in this book actually. 

It does end on a suspenseful cliffhanger and I’m mad i have to wait until February for the next book!!!
