I love him so much. I love him more than I did yesterday, and I already know tomorrow I’ll love him even more, because every piece of him he gives me is another to fall in love with.

Alex bumps his leg into mine under the table, and when I glance at him, he’s not even looking my way. He’s just reminding me that he’s here, that nothing can really hurt me.

That crush of happiness, that feeling that this is what life’s about: being somewhere beautiful, with someone you love.

For the first time in my life, the airport strikes me as the loneliest place in the world.

All those people, parting ways, going off in their own directions, crossing paths with hundreds of people but never connecting.

I'm crying because I'm relieved. Because I will never again feel as alone as I did during those long nights as a kid. As long as I have him, I will never be alone again.

From the#1New York Times bestselling author ofBook Lovers andBeach Read comesa sparkling novel that will leave you with the warm, hazy afterglow usually reserved for the best vacations.

Two best friends. Ten summer trips. One last chance to fall in love.

Poppy and Alex. Alex and Poppy. They have nothing in common. She’s a wild child; he wears khakis. She has insatiable wanderlust; he prefers to stay home with a book. And somehow, ever since a fateful car share home from college many years ago, they are the very best of friends. For most of the year they live far apart—she’s in New York City, and he’s in their small hometown—but every summer, for a decade, they have taken one glorious week of vacation together.

Until two years ago, when they ruined everything. They haven't spoken since.

Poppy has everything she should want, but she’s stuck in a rut. When someone asks when she was last truly happy, she knows, without a doubt, it was on that ill-fated, final trip with Alex. And so, she decides to convince her best friend to take one more vacation together—lay everything on the table, make it all right. Miraculously, he agrees.

Now she has a week to fix everything. If only she can get around the one big truth that has always stood quietly in the middle of their seemingly perfect relationship. What could possibly go wrong?

At this point I dont think there is a Emily Henry book that I won't sell my soul for. The way she mixes the past and present is amazing and contributes in such a beautiful way to the story. This one had a really unique concept that made it unputtdownable. I've been putting of reading it because of the title🤪

Okay heres my review. Basically when i think of the book i think of the last 150 pages. the first 200 pages were so boring it took me a whole week j to read that. i would read 20 pages a day cause it was j boring. there wasnt any i mean any romance until pike page 200 smt which is why it was boring. i mean i cant expect every book to be sex and kissing yhe whole way round but for now thats just how i like books. i feel like my rating could change when im more into reading but for now 3 stars only because of the first 200 pages, the minimal romance and ig the ending. i mean all romances end the same either rlly rlly bad or rlly rlly good or ig cliffhanger theres never rlly a bang its j all predictable. again ig thats just romance books. definitely dont regret picking the book up cause now ik emilys writing style so when i feel like a slow burn or like not much romance ik what to go to🫶

This book. T H I S B O O K. Where should I start with this book? Poppy and Alex are friends, even though they have absolutely nothing in common, she wants to fly and see the world, and he wants to keep his roots, still they have a beautiful friendship, due her job, they get to trip around the world every summer, until one summer something happens and change their whole friendship forever, until one day, she texts him and reconnect their “friendship” they have a week to see if they can go to what it was or if everything changes. Now, as you saw, it has friends to lovers as the main trope in this book and I didn’t know how much I dislike that trope until now, for a long part of the book I was rolling my eyes, because something I forgot to mention before is that the book is narrated between then and now, and FOR ME, sometimes the then flashbacks didn’t showed me what she wanted to be seen, like the moments when they start realizing that they were in love, maybe I will need to reread it to see it now, but at first I couldn’t see it. So I was like so desperate for something to happen because, for me the book got good in like page 230 or something like that, the book has 360, it doesn’t work for me that way. I felt like the author was trying to built the anticipation for the pivotal moments but I think she took it too far. Because once she gave me what I wanted that was romance maaaaaaan it was good, like really good, I do feel that this book written in Alex’s POV would’ve been one of the best romance books that I have ever read (I am not saying it’s bad, just I didn’t love it) because Alex is a mystery but the glimpses of vulnerability that he shows to people specially Poppy, maaaaaaaaan I LOVE HIM. It’s a good romance book, I recommended to people of friends to lovers it’s their thing.

4.75 stars friends to lovers supremacy ! update 10/28: still as good as I remember, I can not wait for the movie!!!

I can’t decide between 3 or 4 stars. Overall I enjoyed the book. I enjoyed reading about their vacations, seeing their relationship evolve and the characters. However, the vacation causing their relationship to change was disappointing.

As someone who’s not really a romance reader… I think I’d still rather watch this than read it 😅 Cute story, but spicy scenes are just not my thing 🙈 Even if the trope isn’t original, I really connected with Poppy—especially that quiet need to leave where you came from and prove you’ve become something more. And this part just hit me: “Suddenly we’re not kids anymore, and it feels like it happened overnight, so fast I didn’t have time to notice, to let go of everything that used to matter so much, to see that the old wounds that once felt like gut-level lacerations have faded to small white scars, mixed in among the stretch marks and sunspots and little divots where time has grazed against my body. I’ve put so much time and distance between myself and that lonely girl, and what does it matter? Here is a piece of my past, right in front of me, miles away from home. You can’t outrun yourself. Not your history, not your fears, not the parts of yourself you’re worried are wrong.”

My very first Emily Henry book, and I’ve enjoyed it! It was such a fun, cute and easy read. Poppy and Alex have a cutesy and great chemistry as best friends and eventually become a couple. I loved their chaotic and fun friendship during those past flashback chapters so much. Emily Henry gave us the idea of how their friendship came to be and how/when they fell in love with each other. Such a nice way to read the story. The friends-to-lovers trope is so special and intimate. The one thing I disliked was the miscommunication, but it was soon resolved near the end of the book, which was great! And I also watched the movie, and I loved it! Romance-Comedy at its finest. One of the best book-to-movie adaptations. Tom Blyth and Emily Bader’s chemistry was brilliant. They are perfect as Alex and Poppy. Oh, to have what they have. Yearning for each other throughout the movie, the pull they both have. They’re like two magnets that can’t help to be attracted to one another, no matter how hard they deny it. Overall, I’ve enjoyed watching the movie and reading the book! It made me smile and laugh all over again.

why was i crying during this book? i kept putting off reading it because i knew it was going to be an angsty read from emily henry, and i was not wrong. it's hilarious, henry just knows exactly how to do banter, but everything else about the book that wasn't banter, was like henry was stabbing my heart over and over again but i didn't want her to stop.

Oh. My. God. Where to even begin? Did I read the book because I had to watch Tom Blyth on Netflix? Yes, yes I did. And you know what? I have NO regrets. PWMOV is one of those books that touches some fibers and rearranges your perspective. I had heard a lot of my friends say they related to Poppy (which, in some ways I do) but for me, Alex is the character that’s closest to my heart. As an oldest sister, there is nothing I wouldn’t do for my siblings, and I’ve learned about sacrifices for a very long long time. But more than that, he’s sweet and caring and loving, and I loved that it’s ok to be a little lost and a little scared of the future. And their relationship? Gosh, it also hit too close to home. Definitely give it a try.

This got a slow star, but then it picked up and got so good that I had to know what happened next.

Poppy is a character I never expected to relate to because we are total opposites, but she really hit the nail on the head when it came to making decisions and choosing what to do when your life.

Alex, y'all, I just love that man, I found him so relatable and also so freaking sweet.

It is true that maybe together, they might not make sense, but I think that is on the surface. After reading them together and how they make each other the best and truest version of each other, you can't help but want them together.

It is not a full 5 stars because I think towards the end it became a bit rushed the whole thing.

sooo long. i loved it. poppy is so my girl, i love her so much and Alex, needless to say, has become my man goal. anyway, the story is great once you get into it. i had to get past 200 pages for that but you have to be patient in life.

YOUCH! it is very hard to be nonchalant about this book because it touched a part of my soul that i didn't think could be seen by anyone else. emily henry gets it. she really does! i think i am always going to be forever changed knowing this book exists in this world, and i can pick it up anytime. the movie adaptation is really going to kill me i think.
