This was an intriguing story. The writing was pretty good. The characters were solid, and real. The one thing I didn't like was in the last fifty or so pages, when everything was wrapping up and we were supposed to find out who was behind it all and what happened and as it was being explained, it made no sense. I was all like (out loud) "This does not make a lick of sense! No damn sense! How is this supposed to make sense?" But then in, like, the last ten pages we found who was REALLY behind it all and then it made a little more sense. But not complete sense, you know? And that just annoyed me a little bit. the other thing I didn't like was whenever there were movement queues from Sadie. Like, when she "Curled up in the corner and wept". I mean, did she actually curl up in a corner and weep with her own body? I don't think so, I was under the impression that there wasn't much movement available to her. And when she "Raised her eyes to meet his" when they were looking in a mirror? Was she actually raising HER eyes, or was she raising his eyes again or some metaphorical existential hum-de-dum shit like that? Other than that, it was a solid book. Good pacing, believable characters, interesting plot. Just nothing TOO great, which is why I can only give it three stars. Oh, and, my god, is that cover GORGEOUS or what?

This book seemed to take forever for me to get through. I liked the first couple chapters but as soon as the story dipped into the mind of the other character, I lost some interest, though I did manage to find something in the book to keep on reading. S'okay. 2.5 stars.
