Miracle on 5th Avenue

Miracle on 5th Avenue

Sarah Morgan2016
It will take a Christmas miracle for two very different souls to find each other in this perfectly festive fairy tale of New York! Hopeless romantic Eva Jordan loves everything about Christmas. She might be spending the holidays alone this year, but when she's given an opportunity to house-sit a spectacular penthouse on Fifth Avenue, she leaps at the chance. What better place to celebrate than in snow-kissed Manhattan? What she didn't expect was to find the penthouse still occupied by its gorgeous--and mysterious--owner. Bestselling crime writer Lucas Blade is having the nightmare before Christmas. With a deadline and the anniversary of his wife's death looming, he's isolated himself in his penthouse with only his grief for company. He wants no interruptions, no decorations and he certainly doesn't appreciate being distracted by his beautiful, bubbly new housekeeper. But when the blizzard of the century leaves Eva snowbound in his apartment, Lucas starts to open up to the magic she brings...This Christmas, is Lucas finally ready to trust that happily-ever-afters do exist?

Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads. I know it's the second week of January, but I hope it's not too late to review a holiday book. I loved this one so very much so I definitely don't want to skip out on the review. If you're like me and you can't really read holiday books until you're by the Christmas tree with a hot beverage, you'll definitely want to file this one away for next year. I loved this book. I'm totally kicking myself for not reading any of Sarah's books sooner because, if this one is any indication, I am going to LOVE them all. Her witty humor made me chuckle. The romance gave me feels and made me swoon — and even fan myself a little! I fell for these characters HARD. And the setting? Perfection. New York at Christmastime is amazing — and pretty much comes to life in a way that it becomes a character in and of itself. Sarah did it SO MUCH justice. One of my blogger friends referred to Sarah's books as "magical" and I gotta say... she hit the nail right on the head. This one was exactly that. Eva was a fantastic heroine. I found her easy to relate to and even easier to fall a little bit in love with. She was witty and often made me laugh out loud. I loved her determination when it came to her recent job — you know, the one that introduced her to Lucas. He wasn't an easy guy. (Which totally worked for me because I do love my broken, broody heroes.) His past was complicated and some of it was even surprising to me as it was revealed. After all was revealed, I understood him so much better. He was kind of a jerk at times, but I was still totally rooting for him. More specifically for him and Eva. I loved their banter and their chemistry. They were truly a joy to read about. One of the first orders of business in 2017? Promptly devour the first two books in the series... and quite possibly a large part of the rest of Sarah's backlist. I have a new go-to author for when I'm looking for a smiley, swoony book. FAVORITE QUOTES "I'll help him reframe his idea of 'romantic,' and it won't include calling birds, hens of any nationality, nor geese, laying or otherwise. And while we're on the subject, one gold ring is more than enough. Who needs five? He wants exceptional, not excessive, and the two are not the same." Here lies Eva, whose Christmas wish was to find herself up close and personal with a man, but didn't specify the circumstances. "I'm good in the kitchen, but even I've never managed to 'cook up' a romance. I wonder what the recipe would be? One cup of hope mixed with a pinch of delusion?" In times of crisis, keep your lipstick red and your mascara waterproof. "There are a lot of things in this life I'm prepared to fight for. My friends, my job, my future, but I won't fight for your heart, Lucas. If you can't give it willingly, then I don't want it."
