Ryuth is a bit of a handful to say the least. He's pretty much feral after a long time being held at the hands of Tajss' enemies. He only calms when Mei is nearby. Ragnar, Ryuth's brother, is put in a precarious position when others within the Tribe want him to banish Ryuth. When Ryuth plays into their hands by making off with Mei, Ragnar is left with no choice.

Well-intentioned Mei never wanted to become a human shield but she sees beyond Ryuths hostile interaction with others. She sees the damaged soul within and eventually manages to get Ryuth communicating. But when Ryuth drops a bombshell on her, she realises that the others in the tribe may not be so forgiving.

More about the Tajss involvements with Epis trade and how other races took advantage of them are revealed. Great little read.
