Slow going at first but picked up near the end.

Book Five of Green Rider

This is probably my least favorite Green Rider book, although I do still enjoy the series for the nostalgia if nothing else. The time jump premise takes me out of the setting and characters I enjoy to the detriment of the story, also for some odd reason so much time is spent reintroducing common ideas even very late in the story. I simply don’t think the 5th installment needs a reminder at page 700 of what the main character’s best friend does as their passion (especially when it influences said character’s role in the story). This book is not a super accessible entry point into the series either. This along with clunky repetitions of “women aren’t really inferior and I’ll prove it” in the new environment of the future, make this story way longer than it needed to be. I will still always enjoy this series but with this being my first reread of this particular book I may just skip it in future series rereads.
