Reviews

I got this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review. Oh, I loved this book. It was mainly just another NA novel with the same tensions and the same ideas. But it had some storylines that I just loved. The beginning in the cabin felt a bit fake to me. Who actually does something like that? But the rest of the book was really good. Maddison is a person you got to love, same thing for Luke. I loved Luke's affection to Maddison. He really was about to give up everything for her. I loved the writing style. It was good and I flew through the book in just two nights. I'm going to read other books from this author! I just realized this is a series, and I'm definitely going to read the other books!

I was a bit afraid it would be more sex scenes than actual character development and storyline. I couldn't have been more wrong. This one surprised me quite a bit. I'm a total sucker for a grumpy hero book and I love fish out of water reads, too. Misadventures of a City Girl was a great pairing of the two and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Both Madison and Luke were great characters, and more similar than I thought at first glance. They had crazy chemistry and the sexy times were smoking hot. Their connection went further than the bedroom, however, and I think I enjoyed that the most. I ended up with quite a few feels as a result of Luke's backstory and growth, too. I loved the female narrator. Jennifer Mack is a new-to-me narrator and I really liked her style. It did take some time for the male narrator, Lance Greenfield, to grow on me. His gruff voice definitely worked for the character, but it was a little off-putting to me at times, too. (Namely during the sex scenes, so it might've been more about the things he was saying and not HOW the narrator was saying it.) Misadventures of a City Girl was my first Meredith Wild AND Chelle Bliss book, the first I borrowed from the library via Hoopla AND my first time listening to each of these narrators. That's a lot of firsts for one book. Ha!
