listen, this book is long. really long. and honestly I didn’t have a great time reading it. HOWEVER! the messages and understanding of the world that i took away from it were incredibly impactful. themes of fatalism and humanism and buddhism and humor all intermingle and result in a beautiful way of seeing the world, which is very similar to the way i see the world. it’s nice to see it expressed in literature, in a more articulate way than i could. that being said, i probably won’t reread this book, rather seek out similar themes in a less dense novel

One of the most entertaining reads I've had in a long time. It reminds me of "Midnight's Children" by Salman Rushdie. That one I read almost 40 years ago so I suppose I was ready for another to equal it.
