Playing Hard to Get

This was okay. I never felt a true investment with the characters and hoped it would have liked it more than I did. The tutoring aspect to it was cute, but their relationship just felt forgettable. That also isn’t acknowledging the cringy parts that I felt as the book went on too. Book two could be interesting since it is following his sister and his best friend/teammate. Now it was a quick read so that was a positive to me because it didn’t run as long as it could, but I was hoping it would have been better than it was.

The beginning was pretty promising but it didn’t last too long. The book was basically "I’m not like other girls because I read" x "I have to go celibate in college because I can’t control my d!ck". I don't know why I even bothered reading this if I couldn't get past the second chapter of A Million Kisses in Your Lifetime, but I guess I wanted to try this author one more time. It obviously didn’t work out. I felt like I was back in Wattpad, where you are the most special, different, mysterious girl in the world, because you read books.

Oh yeah she is so original. She doesn’t like football? Who even likes it right. She doesn’t throw herself at you? How could she even resist that temptation. She liked to read? Who even reads these days. She is smart and ambitious? Such an interesting creature.

I am so in love with these two!!! Their chemistry was off the roof from the first meet all the way to the end. My favourite part about this book tho? Besides the whole history book on the shelf is always repeating itself, is there was no second/third act breakup and the whole miscommunication trope!!! Made this book way more enjoyable. Can't wait for Blair and Cam's book next year🥰

This book was horrendous. I barely got through it, with its pick-me attitude, unimaginative writing, and boring storyline. I expected so much better. It put me in a reading slump.
