Things I Wanted To Say

Story :⭐⭐⭐ (only for the effort put into writing this 600 page paperback)

Tropes : strangers to benefits to enemies to lovers? If that is even a thing, contemporary, touch her and die.

Pacing : slow. (The book was dragged at times, and i couldn’t find any reason to like it)

Characters : okay, so i’ll summarise the story, or try to. The story starts with summer attention her parent’s party which is whit’s father and her mother, and what does he do when he meets her, he kisses her and calls her a whore, refering to her mother. He blames the wreckage of his parent’s marriage on summer. And don’t —

This girl, summer she’s folding to whit’s seduction, even if he’s the one who humiliates her in the worst way possible, he asks the entire school to torture her, because he hates her, and only stops when summer is ready to exchange sexual favours for the bullying to stop. Annoying. On top of that, there’s nothing but summer hanging out with sylvie— his sister, and then fucking every chance they get. Also, whit is such an asshole, he fucks her and then throws her away as if she didn’t mean anything. This wasn’t dark, it was rude, and unsatisfying. There’s was no redemption arc for whit, if he was sexually anything good, maybe i’d have loved this book, but it kept grating on my nerves, also 640 pages?? Please. Then, at the ending chapters, there’s a tiny bit of character development, only for whit though, which quickly gets crushed because he’s still the same asshole who called summer names and made sure her life was hell. And then jumped to save her, he also blames her for wearing a revealing dress and ”wearing a dress like that, what did you expect?” see I can expect assholeness from my MMC’s, if they are any good at loving the FMC in any way, even landon king, the infuriating prick from Rina kent’s universe was better. There was nothing in this book that i could have loved. In the epilogue, they have a kid, and they name him August, after whit’s father’s name, calling it tradition of passing names, this couple— i swear, young adult couples can do better, but what is this?

What I loved : only monty’s parts, Sylvie and summer’s parts.

What I struggled with : the plot. Honestly, this 640 pages of a book didn’t need to be this long.

Plot driven / character driven : my motivation to finish this book, instead of dnf— ing it.

Any other details : i tried to like this book, but i just couldn’t, maybe some other day, which is not today. The notes on the cover are reference to the journal whit steals because he doesn’t like showing weakness. This boy, yes, boy. Not a man was annoying in all ways possible. I understand the negative reviews now, and am seriously contemplating if I should other books in this series.

okay but this was good?????
i legit read it in less than 24 hours
this is literally pwp.

- “I’ve been obsessed with her since I was fourteen. Yet my thoughts of her haven’t waned over the years whatsoever. She’s always been there, lingering in the back of my mind, haunting me at the strangest times, or when I least expect it.”

- “No one. No one has held me like Whit just did in so long. It felt good. Being in Whit’s arms, wrapped all around him, felt… Like I belonged. With him.”

- “Last night had been a realization. This girl is under my skin. We’re connected. We share the same birthday for fuck’s sake. I don’t want to push her away because of some sort of obligation I’m being forced into.”

- “Summer drove me out of my mind with lust, but she also…softened me. Made me smile. Made me happy, damn it. An emotion I didn’t believe I was capable of feeling. Only she did that for me. And I haven’t felt that way since she walked out of my life. Not once.”

- “I’m in love with you, Summer,” he whispers, his mouth right at my ear, brushing the sensitive skin. “I have been since I first laid eyes on you all those years ago.”

- “I was an idiot. I still am. But I will do my damnedest to prove to you that I love you. Every single day for the rest of your life, as long as you let me.”

- “We were made to be together. The stars aligned that night oh so long ago, allowing us to find each other.”

Ummmm Wow…… God I hated Whit at first but this man grewwww on me! Ughhhh Chapter 32!!! <3333 (Finally seeing him in the feels, such a sweet moment between the two characters 🥺) I feel like the plot could’ve been bigger, the self growth was definitely needed and I’m glad they did that apart. Overall it was a great book and I can’t wait to read A Million Kisses in Your Lifetime :) <333

Whit Lancaster burst into my life like a storm. Dark and thunderous, furious and fierce. Cold, heartless and devastatingly beautiful, like the statues in our prep school gardens. The school with his family name on the sign. He can do no wrong here. This is his domain.

He’s a menace on campus. Adored and feared. Hated and respected. His taunting words carve into my skin, shredding me to ribbons. Yet his intense gaze scorches my blood, fills me with a longing I don’t understand.

When he comes to my rescue one night, he ends up broken. Bleeding. My instincts scream to leave and let him suffer, but I can’t. I sneak him into my room. Clean him up. Fall for his lies. Let him possess every single part of me until I’m the one left a gasping, broken mess.

Then he leaves me alone in the dead of night, taking my journal with him.

Now he knows all my secrets. My hate. My truth. And he promises to use my words against me. I’ll be ruined if my darkest secret gets out.

That’s when I strike a bargain with the devil.

I’ll let Whit Lancaster ruin me behind closed doors instead.
