so he kills her father, finds out the father was innocent, becomes obsessed with her, threatens to kill anyone who looks at her (babe youre a law attorney dont think you scare me), stalks her (and thinks thats fine when she finds out), and is just overall weird? like okay then.

calista green, oh how i thought id like you but seriously. did you lose every single brain cell you had when your dad died? like the signs are all there that hayden is fucking crazy and youre like 'oh hehe he told a man to apologise to me by hurting him'. STAND UP. 

i hate dark romance authors who make the fmc think she needs the mmc to even function.

boring characters, boring plot, weird dialogue. just no.

I’ll start with saying I will give the second book a try but won’t hold out reading it like I did with this one. I’m going to be honest, this is probably my least favorite dark romance with this particular trope I have read. While the concept could be interesting it kept getting lost in this unnecessary stuff. Like how could the FMC not make the educated guess that the MMC would be her stalker when he literally shows up to every place she is at, puts a tracker on the phone he buys her, and is literally assaulting people in front of her face. Like you have to be truly disconnected with society to not see how obvious that is. But I really had to push through to finish this and I didn’t love it. Then what was the cliffhanger was not what I think would be the dealbreaker in the relationship between them. While yes him stalking her is bad but he honestly has done worse to her. So book 2 gets a small chance but if it is just like this one I don’t need to finish it honestly because I have no connection with any part of it so far.

My non-spoiler review is that I think it is a captivating book because you’re left wanting to know how things are going to end with Calista and Hayden. A lot of their interactions are sexually charged, and there’s a lot of build up because they’re not just having sex left and right throughout the book. I feel like some books immediately start with the sex, and it’s like every couple of chapters is a sex scene, making them more like 🌽 than a meaningful story. I feel like the characters have chemistry, and I believe there’s a lot more to them than what meets the eye. They have several moments where they’re emotionally intimate, and I enjoy it even though the romance may seem fast (but in all honesty that’s what is going to happen when a series consists of 2 books that are each under 300 pages).

I’m disappointed more clues weren’t given to if Hayden had reason to kill Callie’s father. We’re led to believe that Callie’s father may not have been the one to kill his secretary and his unborn child, but I also feel like her father may have had something to do with her possible rape / the bruises on her neck and her being drugged to the point of unconsciousness. There is obviously a reason all 3 women that Hayden knows were found with the exact same date-rape drug in their bodies when something happened to them. I just hate we weren’t given more before it being left all to the 2nd book to give us the big reveal of who killed the secretary and why we’re all the women drugged with the same type of substance.

Really I’m rating a 2.9 it was okayyy. The dialogue of Hayden was just too desperate for my liking. lol and Harper every time she opened her mouth with “Mr blah blah blah” I’m like 😖😖😖😖 I wish that the book was a little bit longer because I think it would have been more drawn out a little bit. I just felt it was very rushed and not as triggering lol

This book was torture and if it wasn’t so short and a would’ve been the second book I’ve ever had to dnf. Anyways if you’re reading for the spice it was mid for the many times he promised and twice he delivered.

This book had me from the first chapter then it kinda slowed and I soft DNF’ed it for a short period not because I was bored I just kept seeing so many other things I wanted to read and or listen to lol, but all in all I loved the story and the writing style. The best friend kills me every sentence out of her mouth is inappropriate as F**k and I loved!!! Nothing better than a horny best friend who tells it like it is.🤣😂
