A little bit hard to read, but overall good book <3

Actual rating: 3.5 I had such a fun time reading this one! Sure, I was bored at first, but the story got more exciting as it went on. I really loved the friendship between Andie, Palmer, Toby and Bri. They were such a solid unit, but of course not without their own issues. I especially loved Andie and her father, how they tried to get back to the way things were when Andie's mom was still alive. Seeing the two of them tried to understand each other was delightful and I was glad that they worked things out. Unfortunately, some certain problems that appeared towards the end felt abruptly put to me. And it seemed to me to be too dramatic. On top of that, there was one time when Andie being such an idiot which got me so mad. She suddenly turned into a super stubborn girl, very suddenly! It just didn't sit well with me. Overall, it was still an enjoyable read, though not a memorable one at that.

I don't know but I've said this a numerous times but I love Morgan Matson's book. (I even tweeted her that and she liked it :)) She writes great summer reads. I also love how she tackles the family issues, friendship, romance and drama in her books. Her books are always enjoyable and funny. They were all balanced. The main characters are always likable, well as for me. They have flaws as well. Plus the main male characters are always swoon-worthy and Clark McCallister is one of them. *SPOILERS!!!!* I GOT EXCITED WHEN THERE'S A FRANK PORTER AND EMILY HUGHES CAMEO. SYBG IS MY FAVORITE BOOK OF HER'S. And i love how nerdy and awkward Clark was. The ending is cheesy (the booksigning scene I mean) but Lord I'M SMILING SO HARD AND MY HEART WAS BEATING SO FAST BECAUSE IT'S SO SWEEEEET. I'M IN LOVE WITH THAT SCENE. Can I just say that what happened to Toby and Bri's friendship is so true?? Thanks Morgan Matson for doing that because that's so relatable and happens in real life. Even you were like friends with someone since forever there are times that it will just kind of gone and break but hoping that it will rekindle as time heals. Well enough for that I love this book but it's my least fav book of her so I gave it a 3 but still good.

that notting hill scene!! aaa my hopeless romantic heart!!! also that friend thing really hit me hard so yeah :--((

This book brought me back to the type of book I used to read when I was in high school. It is a very quick and cute story but very predictable. I felt that it needed a little bit more description but for a summer or beach read was perfect. Andie at some points was your typical annoying teenager but I enjoyed her character development. I will have to say that Clark books seem a lot more interesting will had love to actual read about that world. Clark as a character was incredibly adorable definitely my favorite character. Overall I enjoyed the book, I will say if you are looking for a palate cleanser book (for your books coma) this is the one.

THE UNEXPECTED EVERYTHING was, unexpectedly, everything i could ask for in a novel. i wasn't entirely sure what the story was about when i first started; the summary was a little vague and it simply seemed like a fun, summer read -- which it was, but it was also more than that. unlike the other two Morgan Matson novels i read (SYBG and A&RED), the plot wasn't very clear. we know from the start of SYBG that there's a list and the main character needs to complete. TUE was much more... unexpected because we didn't know where it was going. it was like a REAL summer, when days blur together and all that's left are the moments. and in some ways, i liked it better because it felt much more natural and relaxed. a big aspect of the novel revolves around the relationships between people -- frienship, family(!!), and romantic. at first it was a bit difficult to differentiate our cast of friends, but eventually i grew to learn their quirks and personalities. the way everything flowed in their own seperate, but emerging, paths was so smooth. i love how rocky and awkward some relationships were at the start because it felt more real and more true. i love love love our characters. for one, the main character's real name is actually ALEXANDRA and i immediately felt a kinship with her because i've never read a book with a MC that has my name. even though she couldn't be any more different me, i still understood her. andie's character arc is so pronounced and kind of empowering. big reason why MM is one of my fave authors: her character arcs are FANTASTIC. another big reason: the male leads are SO SWOONY... in an awkwardly nerdy and adorable way. clark is probably my favorite of her male leads (yes, more than frank porter) because HE'S SO WONDEFUL. i'm just going to leave that that because i can't elaborate without going on for another 5,000 words. (and also, the two of them together are SO ADORABLE.) my favorite aspect of this novel was the honesty of each character and situation. i keep repeat myself saying it's SO REAL, but it's true; it really is so real. like yes, there are some situations that are tropes or clichés, but looking beyond and past those things you see the honesty of it all. the reactions and interactions of these people. the growth and concept. (sounds sentimental, i know) the plot doesn't seem like something that would really happen "in real life," but i couldn't help imagining it as REALLY HAPPENING, which is one of the main reasons why i love this book. as you can clearly tell, TUE is fantastic. i was initially worried i'd be disappointed from my high hopes but nope, i truly enjoyed it! it was, i suppose you could say, less interesting than MM's other works because there wasn't thaaaat much going on and instead focused on characters, but i liked it more because of that. all in all, TUE didn't disappoint and i'm really happy with how things wrapped up. <333 ***i received an advanced readers copy from Simon & Schuster in exchange for an honest review. all opinions are my own.***

THAT WAS SOME ADVENTURE. Morgan Matson may just be my new Young Adult novelist. For now, that's all I'm going to say. *** CURRENTLY READING Let me just say this: I want to punch Peter straight on the mouth. Can't you just let a father and his daughter have a moment even for just 10 minutes???? *** I've finished 2/3 of the book and I really do not want this to end. I'm savoring every moment.

I didn't?? love this????? dammit.. it was good though! probably my least favorite of her's tbh...

Definitely enjoyed this but there were a lot of cliches as per usual with contemporary romances. I will say I liked the main characters quite a bit though.

Omg

The Unexpected Everything kind of reminded me why I didn’t enjoy YA contemporary romance that much and why I read too little books from that genre. This wasn’t an awful book, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. However, there were a lot of scenes that made me laugh and I did enjoy. The story started off strong and the end was very heartwarming. But the middle part of this book was my biggest problem. There were too many filler chapters thus this book became unnecessarily long. Some of the things that happened in the middle weren’t interesting at all and became too repetitive. This is just a personal preference. If you do enjoy reading contemporaries, then I’d recommend this to you. However, if you’re like me, I wouldn’t really suggest that you read this book. Don’t worry, you wouldn’t be missing out on anything.

Her books have a light breezy feel to them, and [b:The Unexpected Everything|17838528|The Unexpected Everything|Morgan Matson|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1443203227s/17838528.jpg|24961929] is no exception. As usual, the author tackles family and friendship really well. This one was even cuter because the love interest was very ... appealing to me (probably every teenage female bibliophile's dream guy hahahaha). Anyway, this was a very satisfying read, as usual. SYBG still stand as my favorite, but this came pretty close.

First book for our June Book Club pick was I must say cute, and I don't say that too often about books. This was an easy breezy read and was perfect for this weekend at the beach. Despite it being a nice easy read, the characters did have some dimension to them. Andie, the main protagnist (while not being my favorite character) had some really healthy character development in a coming of age way. She grew up and realized you can't really plan out ALL of your life. Sometimes things just happen and you go with it. I enjoyed reading the scenes with her and her father, and her and Clark. Clark which I am a bit smitten over. I wish there was more of him and now I want to read the story he wrote in the book. I looked forward to those little snippets. As for the Andie's friends, Toby, Bri, and Palmer: They were nice and all had very different personalities. Toby and Bri were a bit annoying at times, but I was very happy with the outcome of their friendship. As I mentioned earlier in the review, you can't plan out all of your life and things change, even friendship. Most of the book was predictable, but I didn't see it coming when Toby decided not to stay friends with Bri. I appreciated that honest depiction of friendship. Sometimes things don't work out the way you want it to and sometimes they do. Overall a nice read. Highly recommend if you are going through a book hangover and need a stand alone book to make you feel good.

before I finished this I was leaning towards giving it a 4 or 4.5. but tonight I sat and read this book until 2am because I needed to know what was happening. it's been a while since a book has done that to me, so this book gets the 5. it drew me in and left me wanting more.

I needed this cuteness in my life. Clark is my kind of guy.

I love this book with my ENTIRE being. It shows how you can’t really plan every single part of your life down to the last minute and how it’s better if you just go with the flow. I just adore Andie and Clark, I was shipping them the minute they first met each other. Also love the fact that Clark is a writer. This was a real page turner and Morgan Matson really lives up to expectations. The way Andie got back together with Clark was literally so perfect. Looking forward to reading her other books.

THIS LEFT MY HEART FEELING SO SO HAPPY!!!! The PERFECT summer read with amazing character development, dogs, friendship, family, and THE SWEETEST ROMANCE EVER! It was absolutely adorable and the fact that he's a writer and the story excerpts from his book would parallel the situation going on- SO CLEVER!!! It made my heart feel all warm and fuzzy! I just love Morgan Matson so much and once again, she did a beautiful job with this one! Truly touched my heart! Full review to come!

3.5

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

5/5 stars It's been a while since I've read a simple, cheesy contemporary book. Almost too long, to be honest, as they are some of my favorite books to read. The Unexpected Everything made up for that drought, and so much more. Out of all the Morgan Matson books, I'd have to rate this one as my second favorite (Amy & Roger's Epic Detour will always be #1). I loved the characters, the story, the setting. Just everything about it had me smiling. Clark was such a cool character, however he did seem a little unrealistic to me, but that's okay. Now I'm just wishing to find a young, successful fantasy author for myself....

Super cute! I laughed and I cried, and overall I really loved the entire thing! Glad to have another book boyfriend to add to my list

there were bits that i found not that interesting but overall it's a great book. 4.25 stars
