Oh damn! That ending fucked me up big time, I'm not okay right now! One of my top YA fantasy series and it did not disappoint...even if certain parts frustrated me to no end, I couldn't put it down if I tried. The wait for the last book is going to be brutal. I'm not ready for this series to end! The feelings I have toward every character, relationship, and friendship is incredibly strong<3 even characters I despise, and wish fervently for their death I still look forward to every time we get a new back story or a new piece of information that conflicts with already set opinions. For example this book changed my opinions on certain characters and I love it because those are the moments that completely catch me off guard.

In the fifth book of this high fantasy series by a New York Times-bestselling author, an epic clash between gods and mortals threatens to tear Mytica apartEand prove that not even the purest of love stands a chance against the strongest of magic. 5 1/2 x 8 5/16.

WTF was that ending???
I am so offended by that cliffhanger!
(view spoiler)[Magnus can't die! I refuse to accept that! Someone better save him within the first page of the next book! (hide spoiler)]

"I know, without a doubt that if you had a choice between my son and power. You would choose power."

This book, though the ending drives me insane. Was an amazing book! The characters have grown so much since the beginning of the series and each and every one of them acknowledge their changes. The loyalty of the characters grew and grew! This book is definitely one I would recommend to other readers. You can't help but love each and every character, from Cleo to Amara. The ending was very powerful in a way that makes sure the readers come back to it! Good Job Morgan Rhodes! You have certainly pulled everyone into your series! I love the moments you give each of the characters together! I want a movie for this series very badly, but I also like to have the images in my head stay the same! This book is one of my definite faves!

Again I mainly only read these for Magnus and Cleo
Also Morgan Rhodes has some pretty awesome cliff hangers tbh

This series is going to drive me absolutely crazy.

Magnus and Cleo are an absolute joke. Like who knew this marriage that they were forced into was going to be even more complicated than an arranged marriage? And why does every single male person ever have a massive crush on Cleo? Like she is either “the most beautiful girl so-and-so has ever seen” or she is “a goddess walking among men”.

Like, I get it; she isn’t just an average looking girl. She’s a princess and she happens to be like really pretty. Just like the other princess (Lucia) who is equally a goddess walking among men but with dark hair instead of blonde. Why can’t a princess ever just be average looking?!

Anyway, Magnus and Cleo are the ships of all ships. I love their relationship because it wasn’t like an “insta” thing, it was something that evolved. I mean, they legit hated each other (and sometimes I think they still hate each other). But that’s what makes it so intoxicating!

Amara is succeeding in her quest to take over all the kingdoms and be supreme leader of all the lands.

Jonas is somehow still alive.. literally have no idea why this guy is still alive.. like seriously does he have nine lives? Why are you a big player in this? I DON’T UNDERSTAND YOUR PURPOSE.

Lucia is pregnant with a baby growing inside of her at super speed. That in itself worries me. Like is this a demon that is just going to kill everyone? Because I feel that might be the only way this series can end.

Gaius is in the same state that he was at the end of the book; but, you start to see a different side of him besides just supreme evil-ruler overlord. Oh, and you meet his mother: that is a treat in itself.

Oh and the dead come back to life; because in the fantasy world, death isn’t permanent the majority of the time. Seriously, I think this is kind of a cheat; but, then again I am usually overjoyed to see a character come back to life. Bipolar feelings for a book is my usual though.

Oh and there’s something about the gods of the elements and someone trying to take back their world.

Honestly, this world-building has been phenomenal. It has been slow, but it doesn’t leave you confused about anything. The characters have grown a lot since the first book and they never seem to be acting out of their usual. You end up loving the characters for their flaws and stupidity and you morn them when they die (because a lot of people die. Literally the majority of the characters you meet die. Not a drill.).

  AND THAT ENDING
Like... WHY IS THE NEXT BOOK NOT IN MY HANDS? Cliffhangers are the ABSOLUTE WORSE.

Everyone is NOT where they are suppose to be and there is NO happily ever after in this book and I need this to be fixed. DO YOU HEAR ME RHODES? FIX THESE ENDINGS PLEASE!

Ummmm EXCUSE ME? Magnus is where and Cleo has what now? I NEED THE NEXT BOOK PLEASE

It was enjoyable in the way a bad soap opera is enjoyable.

I think a part of me just died. Not only because of the storyline, but because I don't have the last book in my possession yet, but I need it now. Oh yes, do I need it now.

Done. Dead. Everything has gone to shit and everyone is in mortal peril and this is one of the best books I’ve ever read.

Same as the other books in this series, the ending was amazing. It was a bit slow for me in the beginning but the ending was worth it. Can't wait for the next book ❤️️

An epic clash between gods and mortals threatens to tear Mytica apart . . . and prove that not even the purest of love stands a chance against the strongest of magic. MAGNUS and CLEO are forced to test the strength of their love when Gaius returns to Mytica claiming he's no longer the King of Blood but a changed man seeking redemption. LUCIA, pregnant with the child of a Watcher, has escaped the clutches of the unhinged fire god. Her powers are dwindling as she goes forth to fulfill a prophecy that will keep her baby safe . . . but could mean her demise. JONAS treks back to Mytica with a plan to overtake Amara, but fate takes hold when he runs into the beautiful Princess Lucia and joins her on her perilous journey. AMARA has taken the Mytican throne, but with no way to unleash the water magic trapped within her stolen crystal, she'll never be able to seize glory and get sweet revenge. And what kind of darkness will descend--and who will be safe--after Prince Ashur reveals the dangerous price he paid to cheat death?
