Mr. Malcolm's List
Reviews

3.5* This book was cute! A slower read but I definitely enjoyed it.

being dramatic, i started this book and hit a MAJOR reading slump. so it took me five months to finally finish. that being said, it did also have a slow start to the plot. the halfway point hit and that’s finally when it felt it captivated enough and a lot of the characters became actually enjoyable to see. that said, once i got past my slump of reading physical books it was a quick, simple, and lighthearted read.

Cute story. The characters are likeable, the story is fun. Has a very easy Jane Austen sort of vibe to it, but none of the depth. An easy, comfortable, enjoyable read.

Probably more of a 3.5? Enjoyable, although at times a bit too convoluted for my tastes. Selina is a gem.

Lit chicks review to come!

** spoiler alert ** Probably closer to a 2.5. I really liked Selina, but Mr. Malcolm was one of the most uncaptivating love interests I have ever read. He treats Selina horribly, but still ends up winning her over. Julia was also a twit and a pain to read about. I would have much rather had Selina and Mr. Ossory end up together because they seemed to be a much better pair. He basically got away with acting like an a-hole because he’s “handsome”.

This a wonderfully charming story! I loved every minute of it!!

Enjoyed it a lot! Some of the circumstances were a little cheesy and some of the conversation turned modern... but I definitely got some Jane Austen vibes. Love!

Oh no thank you

This was such a fun, fast read! Mr. Malcom’s List is a historical romance. Mr. Malcom has a list of attributes and accomplishments that any woman wishing to become his wife should have. Of course no one is good enough to pass the list (think Mr. Darcy). Selina Dalton arrives to London and becomes unwillingly swept up in a scheme by her frenemy. It was delightfully witty and romantic. I loved the dynamic between all of the characters and it’s always fun to have a Mr. Darcy like character realize the error of his ways. Apparently this is currently in production for a film! Cannot wait to see this one.

DNF, the language was just too incongruous with the period. I'm obviously being pedantic about a frilly, 'Regency' version of "Madame J", but by all means; enjoy.

*2.5 I'm usually a sucker for a historical romance, but unfortunately, this one was a bit disappointing. The plot didn't feel like it went anywhere and the characters felt very flat. I think if it was maybe 100 pages or so longer, it would've helped develop the story and flesh out the characters more. I liked Selina and Malcolm, but I just don't feel like I knew enough about them to be invested in their romance. I really wanted to like this, but it just fell a little short.
