When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson. Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn't be that big of a deal since Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he's still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I'm trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer. Boy, was I wrong. Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man. Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs. But with great orgasms, comes great consequences. Tucker might be my friend and roommate but he's also my best friend's ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that's what my brain is telling me, my heart is speaking an entirely different language.

I had no idea what specifically to expect from this book, I just knew I had high expectations for it. Meghan has come to be one of my favorite authors in the last few months and she hasn't let me down yet, so I knew I'd enjoy this one. I just didn't know how much or what type of feelings would come with it. The short version? All of them.

I've been on a real streak lately with roommate books. I can probably count on one hand the number of them I've read before the last couple weeks. And that's cool with me. Give me all the roommate books. They speak to my love of the "friends first" trope and, more often than not, they also give a good slow burn. I love that as long as the payoff is worth it, just like it was here. Where My Best Friend's Ex differs from the other books like this that I've read recently is that Tucker and Emma have been friends for a long time, even if they'd recently not been quite as close because, hello, he's her best friend's ex and you're always going to choose the best friend over the guy when the time comes. Thankfully Emma gets a good second chance at rebuilding her friendship with Tucker... and maybe even a little more. 

Oh, Emma and Tucker. Y'all ruined me. Tucker was so sweet and thoughtful, so broken and vulnerable. (But, I mean, he was still a manly, sexy guy, too. Not that these things should be mutually exclusive.) New book boyfriend? YES. He was great through (nearly) the entire book, but there's a series of scenes near the end of the book that made me melt all over the floor. My. Gods. Of course, you're going to have to read it to find out for yourself what I'm talking about. I won't spoil a thing about this one for you. Emma was wonderful, too. She was smart, sassy and dedicated — both to her friends and her schooling. She was also conflicted about her feelings for Tucker, and understandably so. This one wasn't *quite* as forbidden as you might think from the title, but the ex line is a weird one to cross and this one was complicated. So I get it. Regardless, there was no way to deny these two belonged together. It was apparent after pretty much their first day as roommates. All the swoons. And the dirty-talking, hot AF sexy times. 

One of the things I always enjoy about Meghan's books is the humor. She has a style all her own and I love it. Sure, it's a bit of toilet humor and that might bother some people. I'm not one of them. I snicker along and enjoy it all. She also tends to deliver a bit of feels along the way and, holy crap, that was absolutely the case here. I got to the last probably 10% and began questioning my decision to read it in public. They weren't bad feels, but they definitely made me tear up. Thank goodness for sunglasses. 

I loved this book. It was gratifying to see Tucker get a second chance at the love he wanted after all he'd lost. He was simply the sweetest, so I really needed things to work out with him and Emma. I loved how everything came together for them. The combination of the writing, characters and the feels that were delivered made me fall in love with this one. And, just for the record, I wouldn't be the least bit sad if Meghan decided to give some (or all) of the secondary characters a book of their own. Adalyn, Logan and Racer were especially interesting and I'd love more from each of them.
