Wow that was short and sweet, but damn was it effective!

A fascinating and disturbing read from start to end. The art fittingly has a grotesque cartoonishness to them that only emphasizes the horror.

Not only is this a story about a depraved and troubled mind, but also of life in a small town and growing up in the 70s. And while I enjoyed reading about the Derf Backderf's (wow, his parents must have had a sense of humor) experiences growing up, I do find his harsh criticisms of the adults in his life a bit much, considering his own depictions of his peers are excused with a "Oh, we were just dumb teenagers." Not that I blame the guy or hold him accountable for what happened, it just comes off as unnecessarily defensive.

Otherwise, I appreciate the research and the notes that are included in the end for readers who want to know more. Thankfully, the story ends before the big killing spree that Jeffrey Dahmer becomes known for, so it's more an analysis of his youth and the factors that probably led to him becoming the man that he becomes.
