I wasn't quite sure what I expected when I started this book, but it far surpassed whatever I was thinking it would be. The characters were relatable, even if you haven't been through exactly what they were dealing with there was a part of their story and struggle that resonates with you. The description of the settings, the mountains and villages, even the mud slide made you feel like you were climbing the mountain with the characters. 

Owen was a bit of an annoyance at times, however, at least to me. He felt very self centered, which I 100% understand after a tragedy like he went through, but even towards the end of the book, there was some things he did that just, felt whiney, or like he hadn't really grown as much as we were meant to believe. 

The end was beautiful, I almost cried when I got to it. I am glad that Owen did take things away from the trip, that he was able to allow beauty back into his heart and life.
