The X-Ray of the kindle book has the biggest spoiler in one of the character's descriptions. Wtf. Also, VC Andrews is effed up. I can't think of a more messed up family than this one. What happened to good old fashioned therapy?????????? Also, how much does VC hate men??? Jesus! [spoilers removed] This book was intriguing but not necessarily good. I can see why they made this into a Lifetime movie and I have no desire to watch it. It also got repetitive at times and I was like, WE GET IT YOU'RE CONFUSED. ME TOO. I literally yelled out "Stupid!" when I read the last page. UGH AUDRINA GET YO LIFE GIRL (I got into it though so I should probably rate this higher but I CANNOT deal right now)

3.5 - guilty pleasure book, was very invested in the plot. I figured out who Audrina was early on so I’m surprised it took the character so long to figure it out lol

This certainly was quite a ride. Halfway through the book I knew what the big reveal would be, but it was fun to read how they went about it. Not my most favorite Virginia Andrews book, but definitely not my least favorite.

What did I just read? Not my first V.C. Andrews (and this it the REAL Andrews, not a ghostwriter), and while Flowers in the Attic is definitely f'ed up, My Sweet Audrina is one hundred times crazier. 

Child rape, amputees, a magic rocking chair, three separate deaths on the same damn staircase (get carpet people), and oh let's not forget the charater who has a miscarriage and is subsequently forced to clean it all up by herself because it may stain the carpet.

Despite all the crazy events, there wasn't really a plot...or a point? I don't know. I finished it, but man, what a creep show.

In preparation of Lifetime's adaptation of this very book, I've decided to revisit the very first book I'd ever read that disturbed and haunted me in my early teen years. V.C. Andrews is known for her enthralling works of twisted fiction--family sagas twinged with great descriptions and horror, betrayal and rags to riches. All the trigger warnings are necessary for her novels and they certainly aren't for every one. Our biggest trigger would be sexual violence.

Everything about V.C. Andrews and her original catalog is filled with twists, turns and great sums of controversy. For years, her novels have dominated their genre and gone past the decades that have come and gone. This is due primarily to her captivating and disturbing tale of Flowers in the Attic and the novels that followed in the Dollanganger Series. I guarantee you that a good portion of us have all read at least one book by her and loved or hated it due to its content. Andrews isn't for the weak of heart and while she wasn't the greatest author to exist from her generation, or any that have since passed, you've gotta give it to her for standing the test of time.

My Sweet Audrina is one of the most frightening, heartbreaking and twisty turny stories I've ever had the privilege (or misfortune) of reading.
