I am not the target audience for this book. 

If the U.S. military is anything like this IRL, god help us all. 

The protagonist causes huge amounts of harm trying to free himself from what he perceives as an unjust situation. He's not wrong in his assessment, but I'm not sure I can go along with what he does. He's not one of the Good Guys, no matter what he thinks. The whole situation is horrific. In this work, there aren't any good guys, just folks who act on one side or the other, or the folks who are acted upon. 

It's also hard not to see analogies to recent US wars too. It all kinda broke my heart. Sometimes there's no right side, ya know?

The writing was decent, though some of the minor characters blur together to me. 

I don't know that I'd read another book in this series. I might read something set elsewhere. But milsf isn't really something I enjoy. Too many people die, and it's supposed to be ok , because it's us vs. them. :(
