Deviants

Deviants

-Calista- Sick bitch Maniac Out of my fucking head. I'm not broken. I'm just a little damaged. I'm stronger now, stronger than I ever knew. And it's all because of him. This is only the beginning but I already know how it's going to end. I'll be claiming my throne and they'll be buried in the dirt. -Romero- Deranged Psychopath Out of my fucking mind We both know how it's all going to end. The blood we shed will stain our hands. There's not a warning out there that could prepare anyone for this.

Loved It 4/5 Another awesome read in Badlands series by Natalie Bennett. Deviants #2 picks up right after Savages #1. . I fell more in love with Romero and Calista. Romero is crazier but the next moment can be the sweetest and most gentle hero. They do not have a typical hearts and flowers relationship. But his actions show how he truly loves her. Their life is bloody, gross and romantic in its own non tradition way. . Calista character growth was perfect. Loved that she really is as twisted as Romero. She was feisty, strong and can still hold her own with him. . Good strong secondary characters. So happy Grim and Arien are next. Excited to see how their story plays out. Series must be read in order.

“I could never give her heaven. So it was a damn good thing she coveted hell” Cali and Rome couldn’t be more of a perfect match. The snark Cali gives him. Is fantastic, lord help anyone else who would try that with him though. I do wish we got more of a back story on why society is this way now. I also wish we got to know more about Romes past, we get a big info drop and that’s it, never actually talk about it. For a book as dark and brutal as this, I found Davids demise to be anticlimactic.

English Continuing with the story of Cali and Romero the book begins where Savages ended, where we see Cali annoyed and feeling betrayed but above all confused and it is not the only one because in the last book we did not really have any answer to all the questions but at least in this if we have most of the important answers. I liked how Callista at first had a little fight with herself trying to accept who she is and especially who she wants to be, so when she finally accepted herself and began to take charge of her life she returned to being the queen she is, while Romero surprised me quite a bit, I didn't think I could love him more but he did it, I always have a favorite phrase from each book and this quote that he said to Cali was incredible: “I don’t give a shit about the things in your past. That would be pretty fucking hypocritical on my end. All I care about is the gorgeous, dope ass queen in front of me right now.“ It was just what Cali needed to hear but he is still a psychopath. Definitely I would say that the book a the beginning was about seeing Cali change and unlike the previous book we now knew how The Badlands is and works, and oh boy that dystopian world was very interesting, while the rest of the characters I loved each one, they are very different and necessary. Arlen she is an incredible friend who supports and does not judge Cali, Grimm and Cobra, both are very different that I don’t know who is my favorite, but kings that is what they are. Again this book is very dark too, there are themes of satanism, cannibalism, gore and all the things you can think of, so it is not for everyone but it is still amazing and I recommend it.
