-a quick one day read that left me smiling
-a little bit of "how dun it"

What was missing:
-honestly, nothing... it wasn't difficult to read and I found myself doing chores with my nose in my book..... I think I just left wanting MORE, so I cannot wait for book 2!

After a crazy ending in book one, I wasn't sure where EATTQ would go.
Turns out everywhere I wanted it!

After Nick's proposal, Emmie must now navigate the Tudor time period and find where she belongs, other than the owner of Nick's heart.


With so many swoon worthy moments and writing so beautiful you feel as if you are wearing gorgeous gowns and jewels yourself, I highly recommend this series to people of all ages.

-a modern day girl living in a whole 'other world
-is it really old England if there isn't a bit of betrayal and beheading?

-a love worth traveling time for

-quick and easy escape of a book

The ending had my gasping and racing to the last page, with a cliffhanger I didn't see coming. I am on pins and needles waiting for book 3!

I really enjoyed this book! I am a huge fan of historical fiction so this was a fun twist. 

Emmie was such a lost and unloved little soul with nothing really going for. She rarely gets to see her mom because her mom is a night nurse and her dad is not in the picture. Beyond her two best friends she really doesn't seem to have anyone else in her life. While Emmie is talented in making jewelry and wish to return to school for such in London, she doesn't really seem excited for that either. But everything changes once she finds a magical ring that takes her back in time.

Everything regarding the ring and how Emmie was learning about King Nick at the exact same time seemed a little convenient but it didn't interfere with my enjoyment of the book. It was so interesting that she could hop through time. Emmie herself found a life in the past, with good friends a love interest. I also really enjoyed how her traveling to the past effected her life in the present time. Her time missing didn't go unnoticed by anyone and wasn't swept under the rug like it can be in other books.

The romance was a tad insta-lovey but Emmie and Nick did spend quite a bit of time together though. I am shocked he didn't hang her for being a witch immediately though. She talked funny, appeared out of nowhere and spoke her mind which back then equals witch. Nick genuinely adored Emmie though. While her life is better in the past with him, I'm a tad worried that he's the only thing tying her to it. While she has better friends and more of a life she still doesn't have that "purpose." I'll be interested to see how it goes in the next book.

While it's stated this could be read as a standalone I highly do not recommend it. I attempted it to see if this could be the case and found myself utterly lost a few chapters in. I ended up going back and reading the first book then immediately diving into the second.

I loved the first book for it's unique premise I did question how the second book would hold up. What it came down to though was Emmie changed her mind a TON. Yes she loved Nick but she wanted to go back to the present with him. This kept coming up time and time again to the point where it became redundant and a tad annoying. 

Nick was the only thing really tying Emmie to the past and stealing her future that she had maybe possibly wanted. Your whole life cannot revolve around someone else and that's what left Emmie flailing. She was independent and beyond the that time obviously so she wasn't content with the little freedoms she was granted like the other women of that time. Plus Nick is a king he has his duties and that left her alone quite a bit besides the company of her ladies in wait.

I still really enjoyed the historical aspects of the book. From the clothing to the food and just learning what women did with their days was interesting. The ending was also a tad of a shock. It was intriguing enough that I still think I'll be picking up the third book just to see how it all turns out.
