“Should designers code?” This has stirred up heated debates on social media and conferences for at least the past ten years. I believe there is a place for designers who code, and a place for designers who don’t. Those who don’t are able to push the boundaries of the design without feeling limited by potential constraints imposed by the code.

“Keep in mind that people love to think in binaries: right brain versus left brain. Creative versus logical. Emotional versus rational. Design versus engineering. Generalizations aren’t necessarily bad in and of themselves; simplifications and abstractions enable us to make sense of the world around us. Both designers and engineers excel at identifying patterns, assigning meaning, and categorizing.
